Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip.
Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip. It's a working town with more industrial parts on the outskirts and a prettier old-town in the centre.
We really enjoy the skiing in Pila - a good mix of tree lined, interesting runs and more open runs for a smaller resort. Lots of Italians skiing as well as tourists. Also the opportunity to ski in Courmayeur and Cervinia for the day as part of some ski passes.
Some good restaurants in town and the suburbs and a very large supermarket, so great for self-catering.
Pleasant and picturesque drive from Milan airport too.

An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus...
An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus Caesar. Many fine restaurants. Charming streets and lots of shops. Many remnants of Ancient Rome around the city, like the Roman wall, Teatro Romano and Praetorian Gate. A few stone towers from medieval times too. Everywhere you go you look up and you can see the Alps. Take the time to get outside of town and go to the skyway cable car. Take it to the top of Monte Bianco. Amazing! Quite a few different amazing towns just outside of Aosta also. The region has a hybrid flair of French and Italian mixed culture.

Aosta has a lot of Roman history.
Aosta has a lot of Roman history. It has not really got going yet for non Italian tourists which is a shame, but on the other hand is great as its not too crowded. For 8 €uros you can get a multi ticket to vist 4 historical sites which are very interesting and well preserved in places.
It is also a bustling town in the centre with paved streets with lots of quality cafes & restaurants which are reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cafes and the museum don't have English translations so you might need Google translator, but most of the staff have at least some English.
The centre is only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station. There is a backdrop around the town of snow topped mountains even in June. We will definitely come again.
What a place to stay. There are hosts and then there is the host of this place. Mind blowing. So welcoming and helpful from the start.
We drove from London heading to Italy and stayed at Aosta for the night. The host went above and beyond to accommodate us late arrivals. She made special Italian cakes which was the highlight of our stay.
I am definitely coming back to stay here, just because of the host. Although the room and the facilities were exceptionally great.
Thank you for a lovely stay
Wanna have a real Valdostana experience like you were in your Aosta home? That's the right place.
Warm welcome and impeccable organization. Beautiful, spotless and fascinating rooms.
We had a really pleasant check-in according to our preference with owners who not only welcome us but also offer fresh fruits and dessert as a compliment kit.
All restaurants and places they suggested were absolutely places to be in Aosta!
We had the most enjoyable weekend at hotel Diana! The rooms are spacious enough and clean. The breakfast has plenty of good choices (coffee is great btw). The spa is extraordinary, we were not expecting such fancy spa facilities. Plus, you can privatize the spa in the evening for a unique experience! But the most enjoyable part was probably how nice and welcoming the staff was. We will be back. Thank you
I have stayed in this hotel before. It is a lovely, comfortable family run hotel. Both the owner and staff were most welcoming and friendly which made our stay very enjoyable. We had a superb, quality meal in the evening with some fine wine (and grappa). Breakfast was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a place to stay......I certainly plan to vist again the future.
The hotel was well-located just inside the old city of Aosta, very close to a central plaza with many cafes and restaurants nearby. Communication with the hotel staff was excellent, and they were very accommodating at check-in etc. The room was fine for the money paid -- no better or worse than expected. The staff at breakfast were very attentive and helpful.
large rooms with plenty of light, tastefully decorated with unusual photographs of Aosta.
Generous welcome package of cookies and coffee capsules - thoughtfully providing decaf as well as caffeinated,
huge 'fridge. Secure parking and friendly hosts. King size bed - but rather firm top.
A lovely, family-run hotel in the center of the older part of Aosta. Friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, the beds comfortable, and very quiet through the night. The location is also great as there are lovely shops and great restaurants all along the street.
Owners were very friendly. They spoke minimal English but enough to communicate. Hotel is along the bus route to hiking destinations. I visited during the low season and many restaurants were closed, but a grocery store was a quarter mile away.
The staff is very friendly and supportive. The location of the hotel is perfect, to go to the center of Aosta, it is 2 km. We enjoyed the spa with jacuzzi, ham and sauna after the hike. The restaurant wasn't open yet, but will be soon.
Great central location in Aosta Valley. Places like Chamonix, Montreux, Torino and Milano easily reachable within a few hours. Lot's of sights to see in the area, like castles and the beautiful Saint Bernhard's mountain pass.
The chalet is very nice, interiors as well. Rooms are perfect, there are balconies with Aosta or Pila views. Restaurant is good, it’s quite popular among all the tourists, not just hotel clients. Breakfast was also good.
Wilma and her husband were very welcoming. The apartment was clean and in a great location. Most of the locations in Aosta were accessible by foot. Bus stop nearby allowed for easy access to other towns in the valley.
A perfect little hotel for a stay in Aosta. We had such a warm welcome from Eleanora who was so helpful during our stay. The breakfast was beautiful with local produce and plenty of choice.
Very clean appartment, located near the Pila ski lift, and near a very big food store:) As we had a car, we have got a parking place. Aosta downtown was reacheable within 5 minutes by foot…
I have used this hotel on a number of occassions and have no complaints about the staff nor the accomidation. It is in the centre of Aosta surrounded by Restaurants cafe and shops
This is a lovely and comfortable hotel - friendly staff and beautifully decorated rooms and common areas. Excellent breakfast in the morning. Overall a great hotel.
Spacious rooms, good parking possibilities, friendly reception: hotel is only a couple of kilometres from Aosta town. Hotel is a good starting point for hiking.
