A very pretty island but if you travel on the ferry for a day trip make sure you check the weather report because we got stuck there overnight which was stressful. The Ferry company had no website and the phone number was engaged all of the time. The information was non-existent and staff were at times rude and not helpful. Were given false information and told the next ferry was at 3pm. We had to cancel the accommodation we had paid for and book another night in Piombino. We were having lunch and saw the ship's funnel emitting smoke. We had to run for 1 km to get on the ferry with no warning.

We are great fans of the Old Port in Portoferraio and have stayed there three times now. We like the people, and have gotten to know several. WE like the food. We like the variety in restaurants. We like the ease of public transportation. We will return again.

Nice little town, good attractions. Napoleon's home is closed on Tuesday. Great shops, nice little restaurants. Parking is a bit hard to find, take change with you instead of paper money for the meters. Beautiful views from almost everywhere. It was easy to get in and out on the ferry in this, the main port.

Portoferraio is a bustling historical town with a lovely harbour where you can just sit and watch the magnificient boats and yachts from the front line cafes. We were very surprised that it is such a lovely spot even though it is a busy Ferry Port. The water quality in the vacinity is also surprisingly excellent. All in all We would definitely recommend the whole vacinity around Portoferraio. It was our fifth time on Elba and it always surprises us with another gem. A lively place buzzing in the evenings. Food was not very good, but a short trip outside of Portoferaio gave you plenty of good restaurants to choose from, the island is small so it is easy to get around the whole island. We recommend a boat trip, so many lovely places to swim that are not accessable from the road.

The view from our room and terrace was superb. The entire hotel is decorated beautifully in the acquamarina colours and sea themed decor. The bed was comfortable and large. Everything was spotlessly clean. The clothes dryeing rack on the terrace was very helpful. The breakfast was fresh with a good variety of pastries, cereal, fruits and eggs. The staff go above and beyond to be helpful.

If you have a car, no problem. If you are on foot, the good hotels on Elba are far from the main city of Portoferraio. There are others closer but not the same quality. All things considered, good location. Large room with beautiful view, good Wi-Fi and safe. Good breakfast, not delicious. It has all the basic items like bread, cheese, cold cuts, eggs, yogurt. The best part of the hotel was the location and that lots of free parking is available to guest. The hotel is very clean and every morning you will be very happy to go get complimentary breaks fast (only thing that isn’t great is that it’s only available from 8-9:30 am. The staff was super accommodating and always available for help. The beach is a short walk away and very close to little restaurants to get a bite to eat.

There are all the necessary services around the corner, such as supermarket, car rental, bus station etc. Portoferraio is a lovely little town full of great history and architecture! And the most impressive experience with this apartment is the view from the apartments balcony over the port and the old town! It's really amazing!

Good located, near the beach, in 10 minutes walk, 2 min by car, you can drive to any side of the island by car in 15 minutes. It is possible early in the morning to meet the rising sun on east beaches and then in the evening see beautiful sunset in the western side of island. There is a glossary shop near this location. We certainly plan to come back here another summer.
