And then when I realised I was a little ambitious about public transport given my luggage, again organised a

A great place to stop at for a few days if you're travelling round Abruzzo. The train ride from Rome was very easy, and we were able to visit Lago di Scanno and Scanno itself by bus. Sulmona itself has a fantastic historic town centre with lots of little streets to explore. We enjoyed some great food and the most memorable ice creams ... And of course, lots of confetti Pellini! We hope to come back again next year!

Very positive.
Very positive. Surprisingly large, pleasant old section of city with down-to-earth charm. Hardly any tourists - too bad because Sulmona has an excellent, first rate tourist office. Spectacular, snow-capped mountains. In the heart of little-visited Abruzzo where amazing medieval castles abound. Has a must-go to restaurant called Clemente. People friendly and welcoming. We went for family research and stayed for the pleasure of the town & region. Just be sure you don’t stay at the bed & breakfast place called Villa Del Poeta! :)

Sulmona is a smallish town with a medieval center.
Sulmona is a smallish town with a medieval center. It is a fantastic base from which to take day trips to any of 3 national parks, the Adriatic Sea, and museums galore. If you’re interested in getting off the beaten path but maintaining high-end comforts, Sulmona is ideal. Bonus: there are at least 2 restaurants in town that have earned Michelin nods and stars (Gino’s and Clemente).

Nice quaint Italian city on route through Abruzzi.
Nice quaint Italian city on route through Abruzzi. Piazza with aqueduct and views nice. Market day was fun. Mountain views with a gelato nice and can’t forget some sweet confetti. A few hours is enough on a drive through stop.
The property has an interesting history of once being a convent which housed orphans. Its unique because of its beautiful exposed walls, rounded arches and spiral staircase. It feels like a cozy Italian apartment you’d want to own because of its close walking distance to the main Corso, restaurants/ bars and historical center. The apartment has a well stocked kitchens, two bathrooms and a cozy living room. Big bed and plenty of closet space. It’s decorated with pictures and feels like home away from home!
The location is very central and in the old town. Its accessible to some excellent restaurants esp. Cantina Biffi which was superb! The breakfast on the terrace with 360 views across Sulmona and the mountains was idyllic. The choices for breakfast were very broad - fruit, muesli, yogurt, ham and cheese, breads, homemade cakes (my favorite), fresh orange juice and eggs etc for those who could manage. Even decaf coffee! Marta is a great host - energetic, informative and efficient.
So much. This is a sweet little B&B right in the heart of the historical centre of Sulmona.
It's just a short stroll to shops, restaurants, bars, the huge market every Wednesday and Saturday (which has everything you could possibly want), and all the happenings of the town.
Milena is a wonderful host who speaks excellent English.
I'm sure you'll love staying here as much as I do.
I'd like to say thank you to Milena for the great times I've had here! I'll definitely be back!
Linda was a friendly host and very energetic for an older woman and also very helpful with our local regional travel. The place was very clean and good value for money. Taxis were scarce so Linda drove us to the train as we left. Sulmona is a quaint old place with narrow streets but the locals were out in force at the cafes and bars. The scenic drive to Cansano on a narrow winding road was another highlight..
We are originally from Sulmona, and we were traveling with cousins who had never met their relatives nor experienced their maternal town. My husband and I have stayed in many apartments in Sulmona however this on is newly restored, well appointed, bright and extremely clean and in the center of town. a true gem! we all had a wonderful stay!
This is a lovely B&B conveniently located near the centre of Sulmona. The rooms are beautifully converted and spotlessly clean. The breakfast room is most attractive and there is a balcony with a stunning view of the mountains. Dante was a kind, gentle and considerate host whom we very much enjoyed meeting. We would definitely return.
This is a beautifully appointed, well designed apartment, centrally located for exploring Sulmona and the surrounding area, but quiet and relaxing in the evening.
The host was charming and extremely helpful, even giving me a lift to the train station on my departure.
I would not hesitate to re-book for another stay!
Spic and span, nice-size rooms w/good showers, excellent WiFi connectivity, a quick drive into Sulmona, had the place to ourselves. Breakfast appeared like magic each morning (we never saw the host after check-in) - each item was contained in a separate plastic container - meat, cheese, fruit, bread, cookies.
The location perfect in the centro historico. Clean and spacious for our family of 5. Angela was a great host. We had a wonderful time catching up with family in Sulmona and Sole & Luna was the perfect place for us. Hope to be back to Sulmona soon.
The apartment was wonderful, right in the center of Sulmona. Very comfortable for our family of 5. Incredible views of the mountains from some of the front bedrooms. The staff were extremely pleasant and communicative. Would highly recommend!
Property owned by the sweetest couple. So lovely and kind. The owner even helped with with a package- provided a box and walked me to the postal office. Sweet dog. Provides a nice breakfast. Great location. Short walk to center of sulmona.
Loved the location, very close to the historic centre of Sulmona, but easy to drive in and out of.
Lots of special little details like different coloured accessories for each room.
Lovely breakfast provisions provided each morning.
Davide ( Host ) collected us from the train station and straight away it was miles better than the previous hotel we had stayed at.
Rooms were very comfortable and a lovely roof terrace.
Breakfast was good
The breakfast was perfect. I rented a car for a week, not the entire month, so made going into Il Centro and catching buses and trains more difficult, but the proprietor was extremely helpful in that regard.
Lovely, well-kept studio apartment a short (2 min) walk from Piazza Garibaldi and Corso Ovidio, Sulmona's main street. Clean, with helpful, available host, Michele. Quiet and cool.
