Its very expensive compared to other areas I have stayed, I wouldn't have stayed here if it wasn't for the cycling. You can get way better value else where. Its got everything you need, although was disappointed the gondola from the valley up, was running in the summer. would have expected this being a MTB resort in the summer.

Meribel - Mottaret is a great resort a little higher and smaller than Meribel. It’s ideal for families as has many ski-in out options. At Easter it was fairly quiet, no queues and plenty of Space. Weather was changeable but we had very good snow 3 /5 days. The restaurants are decent and there is a good supermarket. All very easy to navigate. ESF ski school recommended.

We went to meribel for downhill mountain biking.
We went to meribel for downhill mountain biking. While there are a few red and black trails, which favour a downhill bike, most trails and tracks are better suited with an enduro bike. If you don't mind a little bit of pushing uphill, it's fine either way.
Most "Bikepark" tracks are on the easier side suited well for beginners. Elite/pro tracks are harder to find, but those that exist are fun to ride with well built jumps and drops / obstacles. I wouldn't mind to have more of those though.
The enduro trails are panoramic and absolutely superb. The view from the mountains is just stunning. Descent is sometimes over 1000hm which is really amazing.
All three valleys can be accessed with chair lifts by a single ticket. The price is totally fair.
Summed up, for hardcore Bikepark riding an area like Chatel/Avoriaz/Morzine is probably a bit better, but for a good mixture of DH/Enduro Meribel and surrounding area is just perfect. Would bring both bikes next time though ;)

I have been to Meribel for a week's skiing before and had a great time. Now I visit often for just the day as we stay in Chamagny en vanoise which is just across the valley from Courcheval and has access to la Plagne, Champagny is a cute tradition French village and just feels like you're in France unlike some other ski resorts. From here we can ski La Plagne and Les Arcs or drive 20 mins to Courcheval to mix up the week a little.
The hotel breakfast was terrific. We loved the cheese, saucisson, eggs, yogurt bar, croissants. The custom eggs offered were great. Front desk was super friendly and accommodating throughout, and we appreciate them and our extra drive to dinner. Housekeeping was very friendly as well. The bar area was very inviting and lively and we received excellent service from the bar tenders. Thank everyone very much for us. We also love the location of the hotel to the ski area, close to the escalators and Meribel Centre ski area.
Good central location close to main bus stop, ski rentals, well-stocked grocery shops, boulangerie, restaurants, take-away cooked food. Frequent free bus service to and from central ski-lifts area with easy access to beginner slopes as well as direct lifts to intermediate and black runs and links to rest of 3 Vallees. Oven, microwave, hob, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle. Optional battery powered broadband access for $50/week, worked well. Warm apartment, plenty of light. Capacious ski locker at building entrance.
Location was good and a 5minute walk up a short hill to the Morel chair lift and a ten minute walk down to the village. Easy access when driving and a good garage. Spar is a 2min drive away but would be a hard walk back up the hill with shopping. Apartment was very spacious for a ski apartment, well equipped and modern - couldn't fault it.
Self catered apartment in Meribel centre. Excellent location and lovely view over towards slopes of Meribel from balcony. Arrived prior to check in time but no problems and checked in early. Good shower with plenty of hot water. Near recycling bins. Secure ski locker and only a few mins walk to the slopes. Perfect base for ski trip.
Great hotel, with very vibrant but homely atmosphere. Right in centre of town , busy but in a lovely way . Staff were all so welcoming and friendly . Could be noisy at night, but we were warned about this and ear plugs provided . Certainly didn’t effect us in anyway or spoil our enjoyment .
The location in Mottaret was fabulous! The reception staff was friendly. The laundry in Les Crets works well -there are two machines (7Eur each - soap included, dryer 4.5Eur - pay by credit card). Two very nearby stores to buy anything needed. Several good restaurants nearby, too.
This is truly a ski in/out location and the ski area is great. Underground parking is an important bonus as parking along the road was full. The location is rather uphill from Meribel - Mottaret but there's a free bus which one could use until around midnight.
The location for accessing the skiing is great, and the staff are super friendly. It's truly ski-in/ski-out. The rooms look right out onto the slopes, and it's warm enough, you can sit on the balcony and watch the groomers all night long.
Excellent location, we were at the lifts within 2 minutes in the mornings and skied to the door of the chalet at the end of the day. No more than a 5 minute walk to the centre of Meribel
