Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!
Small and friendly. Easy to get around. Fabulous boat trip option.
Very relaxing and reasonably priced. 10 minutes from airport.
No accessible toilets, other than in hotels. Town requires more ramps into shops etc for wheelchair access.

Friendly people.
Friendly people. Lots of great restaurants and great food reasonably priced. Not much to see in the city. Small streets and lot of cars with no place to park. Hard walking city due to unlevel streets and sidewalks with cobblestone type surfaces. Not a level sidewalk in the city. The fish, the beer, the wine, the people were great.

Faro is a city of contrasts, old and new, pretty streets, graffiti in places, derelict buildings amongst the habitable ones. Tourist spots like the marina area, shopping streets, old city were great and the food and drink venues plentiful, good quality and fair pricing. Markets, street entertainment and craft fairs were everywhere during our visit. Visits to historical buildings were only a few euros per person and children often free. There seemed to be ample car parking, much of it free, and public transport was plentiful. Many operators provided sightseeing boat trips and there are regular ferries to the beaches. Nowhere in Faro escapes the airport traffic but you soon get used to it. The public parks were well maintained.

WORTH A WALK UP TO THE MUNICIPAL MARKET AS THE RANGE OF FRESH FISH AND VEG IS FACINATING. THE BIG SHOPPING CENTRE IS ALSO WORTH A VISIT, GREAT RANGE OF SHOPS AND PLACES TO EAT AND BEING PARTLY IN THE OPEN AIR, VERY PLEASANT ON A HOT DAY

Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals).
Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals). The graffiti is artwork in most cases, I was informed it's used to mark abandoned/derelict buildings.
Can be a little disorientating in the old town, but it is beautiful.
Traffic can be a little busy around rush hour, if you are not used to city driving and some of the roads can be a bit uneven around the old town, so I'd advise don't drive through Old Town in a sports car.

Praia de faro is nice of you looking for a quiet break it has few restaurants for a nice meal.and a few drinks. Beach is beautiful so if you want a slow pace holiday near the airport just to unwind its for you. If you prefer bars and shops there aren't any really.
we arrived early but they made a real effort to sort the room earlier for us. on arrival the reception area was smart and clean. We used the small pool area for a few hours, it is small but quiet and a lovely sun trap. The rooms are lovely, clean and stylish. They also went out of their way to make the room special for our stay. Although they don’t have catering breakfast was offered for delivery, but we opted to use a local cafe as the hotel is 5m from the town centre. Highly recommend the hotel for a night or few nights in Faro town.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, Filipe was an excellent host and provided us with stellar assistance throughout the course of our stay! THANK YOU FILIPE!! The room was cheerful and comfortable and the open balcony style courtyard made the place extra spacious. We also enjoyed sharing a kitchen and having fridge space available, which made our 10 day stay in Faro more economical. Also the Albergio Formosa is very central to the old city, the ferry, the train and bus station.
Everything, but particularly the location... ON THE BEACH. We had excellent help from the staff when needed. The closeness to the airport is wonderful, taxi costs about €10. Beds very comfortable. Useful fridge in room. You can ask for free beach towels. You can use the sunloungers on the property, but if you want to lie on the beach the WaxRestoBar rents them out just steps away from the hotel.
A small hostel situated directly on the beach. Just ten steps away and you have the sea! Its a short 10 minute drive to the airport and then you can take the ferry from the beach into the Faro downtown for 2.30 euros one way. The beach is quiet at night and even though the hostel was full it was not too loud at night. It was fairly clean and a good deal for the money.
My friends and I decided to holiday in Faro ,Portugal from the 15th to 18th of August 2022 and we thought that Villa Lidia was a great option for its location and size seeing that we were six people. I must say that the house is lovely and its location near perfect,a few steps from the beach and with its back garden sitting literally on a ria( estuary)
Very conveniently located for exploring Faro with plenty of restaurants and cafes on the same street. We really enjoyed wandering around the old town, probably walking the same loop four or five times. The rooms we stayed in (different rooms at the start and end of our trip to Portugal) were both large and comfortable.
Hotel was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was great value for money. Staff were all superb. The reception staff were so helpful, friendly and professional. It was my first time in Faro and Portugal and the reception staff were extremely helpful. They advised on places to visit.
The location was great for exploring the town nearby and easy to get to from the bus station (and a short uber ride to the airport). The staff were wonderful and very friendly! We borrowed a beach umbrella for our day trip to Faro beach.
Beautiful interior, especially the night lighting; excellent breakfast and housekeeping service; great terrace view; comfy bed and air-co (the only hotel that I didn't have sweating-cold issue during our travel in Portugal).
A comfortable hotel close to Faro airport. Also close enough to walk into downtown Faro within approx 45 minutes.
Clean and comfortable with breakfast included in the price.
Casa Portugal is a great place to stay while visiting Faro. The rooms are comftarble and clean. The breakfast at the Pasteleria is very nice. I definitely recommend it.
Breakfast at a good value cafe on the beach. Hotel had v good value self service restaurant/bar open early until late. Excellent location about 6km from airport.
