Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive. Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns. Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

    Quite an underrated town.

Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Carlisle is so full of history I love the buildings eg the Cathedral, the Castle, the Citadel which is going to transformed into a university campus. The little streets are very interesting could have spent more time exploring.

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

The hotel and room were really clean, the staff were friendly, and the leisure complex was a lovely addition. The location was perfect for us visiting family in Carlisle. We will stay again on our next visit. We were offered to move rooms when we mentioned the tap and radiator were broken, but as it was a minor inconvenience we declined, however, having found the room to be noisy overnight, we asked to move in the morning and were given a different room on the next floor up, which, although smaller, was much quieter for us.

Everything was lovely. By arrangement I arrived quite late after a 350 mile drive. I was meet in the car park, (but don't expect this), and given a quick tour of key the points for the morning and then shown to my room. Room was great, breakfast was perfect and the team were all very welcoming. For work, I have traveled widely around the world, but this was on my $ for a very short stop in Cumbria and the quality beats many hotels that I have stayed in. Thank you.

a last minute booking as we wanted to start our drive from Scotland to Devon a night earlier. We normally stay at a PI located just off the M6 in Carlisle. on searching for availability this hotel popped up. it was like dream come true. less than 10 minutes off the M6, a very comfortable room with excellent shower. The restaurant on site (under different ownership) was great. we enjoyed a delicious Crab Salad and Lobster & Fries main. very pleasant staff.

Lovely building and room had everything you needed. Staff were super friendly. We couldn’t park at the hotel as there was a wedding on, but we were able to off load luggage and park very close by for £11 for 24hrs. The hotel is superbly located in the old part of Carlisle next to the cathedral, main shops and a short walk to bars, restaurants and night life for those that like a bop. Prices locally were all good Would definitely stay again

Really comfortable house, everything we needed, really nicely decorated and fitted out. Good communication with host. Lock box for key useful as our ETA was uncertain. Parked directly outside front door. Tea/coffee/milk etc provided for overnight stay. PLUS chocolates hand-made by host's husband! We stayed overnight twice, on way to/from Scottish Highlands: Carlisle almost exactly half-way between south London and Kyle of Lochalsh.

Lovely period hotel with spacious rooms, an actual king-sized bed, and even a robe and slippers for each of us! The hotel is an easy walk from the train station, even dragging a heavy suitcase. It is very close to Carlisle Castle, the cathedral, and Tullie House Museum, and a very quick walk the other direction brings you into the modern town with lots of shops and restaurants. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Everything was fabulous and above expectations. The host had added little extra touches in the room that made a difference and she went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Only stayed one night but would definitely rebook and stay for longer next time we are in Carlisle. Breakfast was superb and cooked to order. Hotel is Within easy walking distance of the city Centre but I’m a quiet road

Cheap and cheerful, I had a single room . Nice and clean bedding, obviously the place is dated but clean that all I need and some free biscuits. Stayed at lot more expensive hotels ( no biscuits there ) and some free shampoo etc . lady on reception was very nice at the cheek in . Watch for your sat nav putting you into the premier inn over the road. Mine did .

Only a couple of blocks from Carlisle town center and the train station. Cornerways B&B is an original period building with the rooms furnished as such. Even so everything is neat and comfortable. Breakfast includes a buffet of cold choices or an option of hot choices to order. Owners are present, attentive and very friendly.

The hotel is very central in Carlisle. It has a parking nearby and it’s very close to the station and the road that takes you back to the M6. The room was clean. Breakfast was great; I liked that guests could take the amount of jam needed without having the plastic mono-portions. Kind staff
