The apartment was perfect for my family 2 adults and 2 kids. We had everything we needed. The location is easy to find and the communication with the host was perfect. Having the opportunity for self check-in was very important as we arrived late in the evening. The supermarket is in the way to the apartment in Santana. Car rental is needed and parking place is available. It is situated in the middle of nature. From the location we drove between 30 min-1h:30 min to the important places of the island.

Our stay at Discovery Apartment was extremely pleasant. The hosts were lovely and we were greeted and sent off with treats. The apartment was clean, cosy and spacious, and situated in a quiet and easily accessible location. I would highly recommend choosing this accommodation when visiting Madeira!

We just loved our stay here. The apartment is the large top floor of a house, above the landlords, open plan (including the bedroom), well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed the kitchen, as well as the superb indoor and outdoor barbeques (wood is provided). The views were lovely towards sea and mountains, both in the distance. The apartment had a good-sized terrace, with outdoor furniture. The house is located in a rural setting, with cows in the garden, and vegetables growing all round. We walked one day to the local restaurant (Cantinho da Serra – excellent), about an hours walk, along undulating but very quiet roads. There were tiny issues, like everywhere, and we warn people to pay attention to their heads on some of the low corners, but overall it was splendid. Above all, this stay was made for us by the owners, Maria and Nuno, who were generous in their hospitality. They are an extraordinary and very warm couple, who have made this a special home from home.

Solar Arco de Sao Jorge is a truly enchanting place that exceeded our expectations in every way. We had the pleasure of staying in one of the courtyard apartments, which boasted a comfy terrace with ocean & hill views. The apartment itself is spacious, with a well-appointed bedroom and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. Having traveled extensively and stayed in countless accommodations, we were delighted to find that everything in the apartment was perfect and flawless. The kitchen was well-stocked with high-quality dishes and utensils, and the host, Abel, had thoughtfully prepared a delicious spread of local delicacies, including passion fruit pudding, homemade cider, traditional Madeira honey cake, fresh vegetables, eggs, and fruit. We even had the pleasure of using fresh lettuce from the backyard garden. The overall atmosphere of Solar Arco de Sao Jorge is nothing short of magical, and we looked forward to returning to our apartment every day after exploring the local trails. In fact, we often found ourselves simply sitting on the terrace, taking in the stunning views of the mountains and the ocean. Despite its remote location in a small village, the apartment is conveniently located within walking distance of two decent restaurants and a small grocery store. And for those seeking a taste of local culture, there is a cozy pub adjacent to the house that serves up delicious tangerine, passion fruit, and traditional poncha drinks. In summary, our experience at Solar Arco de Sao Jorge was simply unforgettable, and we can't wait to return and recommend it to our friends. A heartfelt thank you to Abel and Edgar for their warm hospitality and for creating such a special place for travelers to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

perfect for exploring the island. convenient car hire close to the house and private car parking. we loved our stay and enjoyed the balconies both east and west. the host was very helpful and it was the best equipped apartment we have ever stayed in. we’ll be back!

The size and layout of the place are its strong points. There is a lot of room and the terrace is beautiful, with a pretty view. The kitchen is well equipped and with a sizeable fridge The wi-fi speed is good and the parking spot nice and shaded, but with a bit of a tricky visibility.
