Very friendly staff and owner met all our needs during our stay. We were travelling with disabled child and their attitude was really great. Beautiful space around our villa, nice and clean swimming pool, tasty breakfast... We enjoyed it very much.

We loved how spacious and private this home was. It is secluded yet a reasonable distance from more frequented areas such as Uvita, Dominical, and Manuel Antonio, making it a perfect base to visit each place. My children really enjoyed playing in the nearby river - so refreshing after a day in the heat and sun!

We adored this place. Very relaxed, comfortable and wonderful bird life (scarlet macaws!) David is a very sensitive host. Close to a great beach.

Nice lodge with a functional well-provided kitchenette. Lovely balcony overlooking rainforest.
Possible to walk to the river for a swim.
There's a small convenience store in nearby Savegre, which is essential as there is only a basic restaurant nearby.
Jardín de los Monos offers accommodation in Matapalo just a 1 minute walk from the beach. A swimming pool, free WiFi is featured and free private parking is available on site.

We stayed at this beautiful small hotel after travelling through Costa Rica for a week. This was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beach. The host is lovely and we saw sloths, monkeys, and birds in the back yard. The breakfast was made with love. You will need a car to get around but a few restaurants are close by. We would definately come back!
Set between tropical forest and unspoilt beach in Matapalo, Rafiki Beach Camp offers accommodation in luxury safari tents. There is a communal pool and a private beach area with loungers and parasols....

It was fun to stay in this glorified tent, though it was a bit hot. The bathroom was large and very modern. The included breakfast was good, the beach was stunning and the gardens were gorgeous.

Amazing place to stay! We had two nights and saw so much wildlife - sitting on our deck overlooking the pond we spent ages watching huge iguanas in the trees, loads of birds and even a Basilisk Lizard running across the water!
The safari tents are really comfortable - fab beds, proper hot showers and plenty of space. I had a bit of a concern about the amount of creepy crawlies we might have in/around the tents but the mesh netting kept everything out (we saw plenty of insect life on the trails but nothing in or around the tents!).
The big communal deck is also fab - the first night there was a huge storm and we sat having dinner while the thunder and lightning raged around us and bats flew round overhead - a really magical experience. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it.
The pool and waterslide were a big hit with the kids too!

Raya is a relatively new place run by its enthusiastic owners, who were very keen to try to ensure that you had a good stay. We were here for three nights and the other seven apartments were mostly occupied at the same time. The design of the building was unsual - one long single storey with dividers between each apartment which allowed for private patios for each. As well as a table and chairs, each apartment had a couple of unusual, comfortable, hanging hammock chairs, behind which was a pretty garden area. The bathroom, air conditioning and wifi all worked well and overall the bedrooms were very comfortable and quiet.
A decent breakfast was provided for you each morning, right outside your apartment which was very convenient.

Beautiful cabin. You can have complete privacy and feel surrounded by forest, but it's easy to reach and not far from all the main attractions of the area. Nice details, very nice and furnished kitchen. Easy communication with the owners before and during the stay.
I recommend it 100%!
There are mixed reviews for this property so let me try to explain what to expect.
The hotel will offer a very basic stay in the jungle which can be a great experience if that is what you are looking for. The owner is gradually investing in the property to bring the facilities up to standard but this will be a multi-year project at best. The location will allow for day trips to Manuel Antonio national park and Dominical, and you will wake up with jungle sounds or with a large gecko in the room, which happened to us.
A hotel for me is all about the people and Helen is one of the best! Such a kind lady who could not do enough to help. She lent me a bike and even ran me into town when needed and had some great stories to share about the area. As a nature lover I can also say that the grounds are truly idyllic. In terms of value for money, it is a great place.
The host is very characterful. We had some friends come into town without a hotel room and though the property was fully booked, she offered the option of our friends staying in our room at no additional fee which was helpful. Remote and quiet.
We booked the hotel and told them we would check in a bit late. We drove all the way to the lodge and there was nobody to welcome us, the reception was closed at 7pm. We had to go find another hotel at night on the spot.
