Nice stop over. We had dinner from one of the only restaurants in town, showered and slept in the comfy bed. The place is very clean and the hosts offer many shampoos and face cream.
We wished we had arrived earlier to enjoy the pool.

This is an old-fashioned roadside hotel-restaurant of a kind that we wish there were more of. The hotel is very basic and doesn't look promising from the outside. Yet everything is exceptionally clean, the bathroom seems new and everything in it works, the interior paint is fresh, the bed is comfortable, and, in short, although simple and unpretentious, we didn't find ourselves lacking for anything. The room was inexpensive and the value for money thus really outstanding. There is a restaurant on site—very nice that you don't have to go anywhere else after a tiring day on the road and can have some wine with your dinner. They offer a four-course dinner for about 18€ (mineral water, wine, and coffee extra, but fairly priced). The menu offers two choices for the entrée, plat, and cheese course, and many more than that for dessert. The choices are thoughtfully planned so that it's a rare person who won't find pleasing choices for each course (provided that they enjoy real French food), The menu includes traditional dishes that are not so often found any more, such as tête de veau, and ile flottante (I actually had both of these, after missing them for some years, while my wife had other things, including a faux filet expertly cooked "bleu" to her order). Given the modest overall aspect of the place, one didn't necessarily expect expertise concerning the cuisine, but the very nice and friendly people who run the place really know their stuff, as does the chef. The cooking was marvelous. We don't know the weekly rhythm of the menu, but there is one. For instance, it seems that Friday is pizza night. Breakfast is not included in the room price (it's a hotel, not a B&B), but you can have a simple French-style petit déjeuner (in the event, coffee and tartines made with good French bread, with a selection of spreads) for 6€ (we did). To sum up, the whole place was a very pleasant surprise and very much to our taste.
