We arrived to be greeted by a lovely lady, who was really helpful and lovely even though she was very busy she made time for us. We were asked if we wanted an evening meal but were also told about other eating options around the local area so no pushyness to eat at the hotel, which was refreshing. After being shown the menu we chose to eat at the hotel due to a day of driving and then we arranged a time to eat after we settled into our room. We were so pleased we chose to eat at the hotel as the food was wonderful our compliments to the chef, especially for the mushroom soup :). We actually couldn't quite finish it and we are big eaters!!The lady at reception also served the food and drinks and dealt with the bar and always kept checking we were ok and if we needed anything, which so lovely especially as she was attending to all. We had breakfast in the morning and again it was amazing (same lady serving), the butter was beautiful locally made (I would have loved to have brought some) all the food was locally sourced and it was lovely to see this (the back of the menu had who they were on). The bedroom was a good size and clean, we had a four poster bed which was comfortable and had added bonus of plugs next to the bed which was helpful for me. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return to hopefully explore the outside area as the weather wasn't being kind enough for us to sit outside. Thank you to all the staff.

This was our second visit to Aldbourne.

This was our second visit to Aldbourne. The first to visit o good friend resident in the nursing home. The second for her funeral in St Micheals Church. It was not for a holiday. The people we met were very friendly and a very nice couple looked after our dog so we could attend the funeral. It is a very pretty village with many amenities.

    Doctor Who fan pilgrimage.

Doctor Who fan pilgrimage. Locations from 1971's The Daemons. Brilliant! Nice mile and a half walk up to the Devil's Hump (burial mounds). Two decent pubs in the village that serve reasonable grub so you can while away a chilled evening here.

Hi - just a quick message to say how much I enjoyed a four night stay at The Crown last week while visiting the picturesque village of Aldbourne. All of the staff, without exception, were friendly, helpful and attentive. I was also impressed by the quality of the food, so much so that I dined there on all four evenings. I wholeheartedly recommend The Crown as THE place to stay on a visit to Aldbourne. 10/10 "
