Clifton Hampden B&B, hotel in Clifton Hampden

The Plow Inn is a 16th-century inn which has kept some original features such as its thatched roof and Inglenook fireplace.

Location was fantastic in a beautiful village and great for walking. Rooms were a good size as were the bathrooms and plenty of hot water. Staff tried.

Milton Hill House, hotel in Clifton Hampden

In 20 acres of peaceful parkland, this Georgian manor house has a pool, leisure facilities and free Wi-Fi.

Breakfast was more than adequate. The setting was lovely, as was the main house and the cottages looked charming. Sadly my room was in a soulless cinderblock addition, though comfortable and clean. Clearly, this property needs some care and attention - loose brickwork and pavers throughout the pergola area were outright dangerous. Woodwork around doors and windows in chipped, scrappy condition in high use areas. The pond was in dire need of cleaning as well. Staff were polite and professional and service was good. The superb location is what recommends this property.

Steventon House Hotel, hotel in Clifton Hampden

The refurbished Steventon House offers fine comfort, a striking wine bar and an exquisite brasserie restaurant amid the Oxfordshire countryside.

Excellent large room overlooking the trees out front. Welcoming staff who helped carry out bags up the stairs, noticing my injured hand. Pleasant lady in the spacious breakfast room, who was efficient and helpful. Handy position just off the busy A34, great for a stopover.

Everything was comfortable in the room and in working order A nice spa experience too We had lunch and dinner as well as the breakfast. A good menu, lovely food though I thought a little expensive. Staff were exceptional. Helpful and pleasant and really went out of their way. We will be back!

Overall the village is very pleasant and quite quiet.

Overall the village is very pleasant and quite quiet. The local pub is a destination Chef and Brewer pub with a good quality of food and is very easily walkable from Clinton Hampden, although the road is a little ‘frisky’ in the dark as it is narrow and has no footpath in places, especially over the narrow bridge. The view of the Thames is stunning and the Thames path is great for a stroll/walk.

A nice little village with a pretty church and some lovely walks by the Thames. A good pub by the Thames but a little dangerous to walk over the bridge to get to it as you have to walk on the road at times.

    Very comfortable place to stay.

Very comfortable place to stay. The breakfasts were first class, quick service and nice and hot. Staff were very friendly. There is a good Chef and Brewer pub a short walk away, through a very pretty village. It has a perfectly adequate menu and bags of character to recommend it. Only a couple of miles from the market town of Abingdon and the delightful river Thames.
