This magnificent 14th-century castle is set in a 12-acre woodland estate.

Excellent location for exploring Hadrian’s wall area and other local attractions and for walking. We walked the wall to the sycamore gap; not to be missed. Staff were so polite and helpful. Parking was brilliant. Restaurant food was amazing.

The breakfast was great. The location excellent for the Hadrians wall walk. Stunning outlook along the river. The young ladies in the dining room were lovely. As was the woman on reception.

Hexham is a small English town, it is easy to walk to everything. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and attractions. Good communications and easy to get out by bus to various hiking trails around Hadrian's Wall

Hexham is a lovely, very friendly market town. There are lots of restaurants and cafes and excellent pubs - the Globe is a great, local pub. The Forum cinema is highly recommended. Visit the Crypt in the Abbey - amazing. The old gaol museum is also worth a visit.

Great little Roman inspired town just 5 miles south of Hadrians Wall. The Abbey and it's grounds dominates the town. Many indepent shops to browse in plus well known retailers in the nearby retail parks, Enjoyed the Country Park alongside the River Tyne. Would have been great to see salmon leaping up the weir when spawning season begins. Wentworth car park with it's 24 hour white bays is perfectly located close to the town. The Abbey guide recommended nearby Corbridge to visit but we didn't have time this visit.

It is quite an interesting place in parts mainly round the market square, the abbey, old jail and the pleasure gardens but the downside is the large supermarket area and nearby chop board factory belching out smoke continually. Some interesting little shops too.

Hexham is a beautiful place, very picturesque.
Hexham is a beautiful place, very picturesque. I was visiting for a friend's wedding and didn't have a lot of opportunity to explore but I'd definitely like to visit again in the future. There was a variety of shops and the town itself is very peaceful. I visited the town's Wetherspoons and found it to be very welcoming with friendly people. I would definitely recommend a visit!

What a lovely town! Reminded me of Harrogate.
What a lovely town! Reminded me of Harrogate.
Lots of lovely independent shops, particularly a book shop which was an absolute delight. Couldn’t find a yarn shop though. Hexham Abbey is a beautiful building and part of an active parish with good choirs and an excellent organ. Great place to explore Hadrian’s Wall, the reason we were there.
A country hotel of the first class, made extra special by the delightful staff. Far better than many more expensive hotels we have stayed at. Beautifully furnished and decorated. Bed super comfortable with top range linen, room silent at night. Views from room towards Hexham and Chesters fort awesome. Food choice great for us, imaginative, well presented and tasty, with decent portions. Plenty of good parking, decent WiFi speed, ample hot water. All our boxes ticked.
Everything in the room worked - the TV, the coffee making facilities, the shower and the wi-fi. There was plenty of storage space for clothes etc. Plus the room was cleaned every day and the staff were very helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent - only a short walk from the centre of Hexham, the bus and railway stations. Breakfast was good with a wide choice of cooked options available. The pub also does good value meals at midday and in the evening.
The breakfast was lovely, a menu choice of full English, porridge, yoghurts, toast, eggs etc tea and coffee and fruit juices. Service was amazingly fast and attentive. Castle had history all around and walks within the grounds, Car parking was easy and accessible near to our room. Room was lovely with a teddy knight for that special touch. Bathroom was large and great shower. Adam was an asset to the hotel, took time to talk to us and made us feel very welcome.
Vine Cottage was a lovely place to stay: spotlessly clean; well-appointed, from new appliances to essential items and little extras such as games and books; prettily furnished; and in a central location for exploring Hexham on foot. (I did not have a car, but restaurants, shops, train station and sites were in easy walking distance.) When I arrived, I found cake, fresh flowers and note from the owners to welcome me. I wish every holiday rental were like this!
Really well equipped bedsit - everything you could need. It was comfortable with lots of extra thoughtful touches eg welcome pack.
Also a lovely small outside area to have a sit/drink before going out in the evening.
Great location for walking into Hexham and within easy driving distance of many lovely villages and walks.
The communication was great right from the point of booking and Mike was available with information and help if required.
Every time we stay at the Station Hotel, we have stayed on numerous occasions, we are always amazed at the friendliness of the staff.
The room we occupied was as always clean and well presented.
The breakfast was delicious, again.
With the added addition of an extensive evening meal menu,we think the owners have pulled off a masterstroke.
We have already rebooked.
Very welcoming, very clean and modern decor. Nicely presented bathroom with Fabulous shower. Very nice diner menu, good food and superb breakfast. The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. Couldn’t fault the hotel’s location but the street noise was a little rowdy at 4am.
A very cozy house in the center of Hexham. Perfect location for exploring the surrounding area. The house is beautifully decorated and is equipped with everything you could need. The host is very helpful and easy to keep in touch with. We felt at home from the start!
Lovely hotel with truly wonderful service, the team really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and our stay really special. Breakfast and dinner both top notch, beautiful room and facilities, and a great location for exploring Hexham and the wider area.
Well placed inn, deep in northern countryside and super for access to a very wide range of attractions and walks. We were at a wedding in and arson’s Hexham so couldn’t have been better. Much better than I had imagined it would be - a very good stay indeed.
The owners, Lex and Carolyn were terrific! They were most helpful, especially with recovering a lost piece of luggage.
Beautiful property, excellent breakfast. Very convenient to Newcastle Upon Tyne airport.
Lovely spacious room. Nice old fashioned bar area.
The food was all home cooked and very tasty.
Sunday lunch was excellent very delicious.Proper Yorkshires.
Breakfast was also very tasty and plentiful.
Lovely decorated property like you were in a fancy hotel and with a garden too. I liked having two key safes. Location was good for Hexham centre and park close for dog walking
Great setting, excellent value for money, lovely food, very clean room. Lots of work going on to improve hotel without any inconvenience at all. Will definitely go back
