I'm being picky but some milk for the cereals would have been great. Great nights sleep as the bed was really comfy.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, the food was excellent and the staff went beyond expectations to ensure that our stay was comfortable. Due to my mums mobility issues with the stairs the staff allowed us to have crockery in the flat to have breakfast reducing the need to climb up and down the stairs, a small fridge waas also provided. 10/10

The hotel in general was very good and on a par with the mid budget chain hotels such as Holiday Inn and Best Western but had the feel of a small independent hotel. The room was very tidy and clean, as was the bathroom which was only let down by not having a toilet roll holder and having to dislocate my shoulder to reach the toilet roll which was situated behind me when sitting.
The bar area was also very clean and cosy but very well stocked with a wide range of draught and bottled drinks alike.
For me breakfast was a little disappointing though. The quality of the food was very good but there was not enough of it. I like to get a good breakfast inside me when staying hotels that will get me through the day but only received 1 sausage and 1 egg where a couple at least is the norm. In addition, toast had to be requested, which, in itself is not a bad thing, it does make you a little self conscious that you are being overly greedy.
Overall though i must say i was very impressed with the hotel and would certainly consider staying in the future.

Rugeley has some great qualities. Easy rail access to Birmingham, Stafford etc. Lovely country walks & trails & tow paths to explore. Town centre like many looking a bit tired. Stag's Leap serves great value food.

We didn’t visit the local area.
We didn’t visit the local area. We used this as a base, so much to see in the area.
We ate in Lichfield both evenings as sadly the pub is closed on Monday and Tuesdays. Ego and Eat Italian.
Great base for easy access to National Arboretum. A superb day out. Also Lichfield has a beautiful Cathedral and is lovely to visit.
Tamworth castle great too.

The place was fine but you have to change the website to show the real address. It is outrageous to give a false address. The lady in the pub said that they have a Rugely postcode. To HELL with that. What customers need is a road and house-number in ARMITAGE!

The inn wasn't actually in rugeley but a charming Village nearby. I was there to meet up with my nephew and his family who live in Buenos Aires, plus another niece who was just back from northern Syria working for Medicin Sans Frontiers, so with UK based family members it was a fabulous time, and my base at the Olde Peculiar was just right.
Location good as we had a funeral to go to in Stafford. (Also great for Rugeley and Lichfield)
Rooms were very clean and breakfast was excellent. Breakfast is served in the pub.
Location was good. Breakfast was excellent and catered for a special diet well. Plenty of parking space. Generally a nice spot to stay at compared to hotel chains in towns.
Good breakfast, friendly staff and lovely home cooked pub grub. Not the facilities of a hotel obviously but really clean and comfortable. Great value for money.
