Lovely staff, comfortable bed and large clean room in a traditional hotel, a very enjoyable trip 👍
This hotel is beside the River Tay, a minute from Perth Museum and Horsecross Concert Hall. Rooms are en suite and many have views of the river and the hotel's award-winning gardens.

The room was lovely and clean, as was the hotel on the whole, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice and there were options for myself as a vegetarian, although it was essentially just cereal/granola and toast but I was content with that. The location was perfect for what I needed. Parking was available.
The Lovat Hotel is located in the ‘Fair City of Perth’ which is recognized as the Gateway to the Highlands with easy access to all the main routes to other cities such as Edinburgh, St Andrews,...

Location was good for our staff. Facility is old and rooms are very small.
In the heart of Scotland and 5 minutes' walk from the center of Perth, this hotel is conveniently located for the railway and bus stations. Wi-Fi is available throughout and it is free of charge.

Close proximity to train and bus stations, easy walking distance to the city centre. Lovely restaurant.
One of the most unique hotels in Perth, in a 15th-century watermill, where you can still watch the water trickling through the original water wheel from the garden, lobby area and Lounge Bar.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, right beside the river and surrounded by woodland..........but very isolated
Great if you're traveling on, but remote if you want to spend a few days in Perthshire.
That being said, I would go back.
Main house is very grand, staff very nice and lounge is very comfy
Good, really good breakfast.
Dinner, although not taken, seemed a bit pricey

The room smelled very strange.
The room smelled very strange. There was a whoppingly large beetle wandering about in the bed.
The staff were pleasant, but frankly, I wasn't happy here. I was sent to the bar to order my food and to have it at a table there. This was quite one of the most unpleasant experiences. There were only men in the bar, and silence dropped bang as soon as I walked in, all seats were taken. I was the only woman in the room.
The barman asked me to wait to put in my order although I was the only person standing at the bar at that time. I waited, and waited, and then walked out, said to the admin staff that I would prefer not to eat at all and that I was not prepared to be put through the situation at the bar that clearly was uncomfortable for everyone.
The staff then found me a place in the lounge to order some light supper. The food was excellent. But frankly, this whole situation was like something out of a zoo several generations back.
And no, I would never go back.

noisy boiler flue attached to front of building, first room offered rejected as insufficient light and too noisy. On a positive note staff happily moved us to quiet accommodation in the riverside block which have good rooms, balcony overlooking the river and lovely view. Another positive was the evening meal which was superb, well cooked and presented, breakfast was a buffet which is not our preference.

We unfortunately stayed only one night at Ballathie House, but we will never forget this short stay. Our expectations were exceeded in every respect, most notably the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the exceptionally good and superb food.
The setting of the hotel and the landscape are just wonderful, there are beautiful forests and nature parks nearby.

The food and service was 1st class but unfortunately the room we had was next to the main extractor fan for the kitchen.
This fan was left on all night and we had little sleep.
We mentioned this to reception. Reply was they need more complaints to have
Management do something.
This was not a good enough response. There is no reason to have fan on all night disturbing guests. I would like to know a change will occur before considering a stay over again. Don't accept room 17.

A magnificient building in a lovely rural area giving a relaxing atmosphere with superb dining. This hotel would suit people looking for a quiet relaxing stay to treat themselves possibly for a special occasion.
Nice quiet area to stay, very little road noise. The hotel itself is what I would describe as shabby shiek due to the age of the building, however they make the most of it. The breakfast is cooked to order, ,which I prefer to buffet style, with various choices on offer. The room was large & the bed was comfortable, with a shower over a bath and oodles of hot water once it came through.Overall, very satisfied especially when you take the evening meals into account.
The food and dining are first class - with dinner at a fixed price of £55 you expect top notch - the hotel does not disappoint. The setting and ambience is perfect - views over the Tay in summer - log fires in winter!
Rooms are at three levels, inside the main (old) building, and "Riverside" or "Lodge" rooms in newer buildings set in the grounds. We have always opted for the "Riverside" rooms. The "Lodge" accommodation is closer to a motel than a hotel!
The hotel is a traditional hotel from the late 1800s servicing fishers using the local salmon rivers. It has style and modest elegance and it is clear that money has been invested to upgrade the rooms and other public areas. The food was of decent quality and at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly, welcoming and most helpful. The location is a few minutes from the A9 the main route between Perth and Inverness.
Lovely old school hotel. Massive family room. Nice pub food, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. Great breakfast - very happy to adjust for fussy kids. Passed the ‘mushroom test’ (properly cooked mushrooms are a guarantee of a carefully cooked breakfast!). Good value. Stayed with the family en route to Northern highlands, and much nicer and more interesting stay than chain hotel options.
Excellent hotel and allow dogs which is great for our dachshund. All staff were brilliant during our stay and very helpful. Beautiful scenery around hotel for walking which our dog and ourselves loved. Would highly recommend this hotel. Great for when visiting family who stay in Stanley.
The staff were very pleasant. The accommodation was lovey. Very comfortable bed. The dinner was delicious and we enjoyed our drink in the lounge after dinner. A very enjoyable stay followed by a very pleasant breakfast. Lovely porridge! We will be back.
The room we had in the main building was really nice. Comfortable, well-equipped and had a fantastic view of the river Tay and the surrounding countryside. The walks around the grounds are wonderful and the hotel is in a very pretty, peaceful setting.
The grounds are beautiful and the dinner is very good. The rooms and bathrooms in the part of the hotel we stayed in are somewhat out-dated but clean. Beds were fine and the room had a little balcony with an amazing view of the river.
Great little dog friendly hotel, staff were excellent, room was great, the food was amazingly good and we could take the dog in for breakfast. Just a short journey off A9 nth of Perth so excellent location for walking
Reception staff werewelcoming and helpful.Hotel remains in keeping with history background of estate.Lovely grounds to walk around.Breakfast was very good.Room was comfortable, good size bathroom.
We keep coming back to this hotel for special occasions. Riverside building has adequate rooms at a reasonable price. The food is excellent (expensive but worth it!).
