Elibank House is a slice of paradise disguised as a B and B. It’s an old country house in a pristine setting close to the banks of the Tweed. The cleanliness was simply outstanding and they must work incredibly hard to keep such a huge and wonderfully historic building so immaculate. Eleanor and her team were a delight and were very humble when complimented on the picturesque and spectacular nature of their home. Once the home of the Murray landed gentry it is now a magnificent stopping off point for a journey even farther north. Such was its beauty and majesty we are seriously considering a longer stay next time. Our small pooch was made very welcome and following the wholesome breakfast we travelled onwards patting ourselves on our backs that we’d found such a gem. Simply superb. The only minor criticism was the hardness of the bed, but I understand that that’s a very subjective thing. Stunning all round.

It is a large hotel. Despite this the food and beverage options are good, beating expectations of mass market food delivery. The main grill dining is a wonderful open and well lit space with good options for any budget. Breakfast too was good and unhurried. The mostly local staff are well trained, efficient and welcoming. The best of Scottish Hospitality.
The views from the front facing rooms in the main building are outstanding.
Walkerburn has few facilities. Need to travel to Peebles or Galashiels/Melrose for a choice of shops and for dining out. Elibank House is located a few miles from the village on the other side of the river in a lovely location along a minor road.
