The property it is incredibly clean and well maintained in its fantastic traditional structure. The hosts are super friendly and sweet. Although their main language it is not English they do their best to fully communicate with you. You book your time for breakfast, dinner and the bath( which is private to you and your party). The room was very cool and super comfortable. The food was delicious and it felt like a feast all the time. I couldn’t recommend it more.

It was really close to where I went snowboarding - Mt Bandai, however, this place is not on par with the Hakone/Ito/Izu/Arima onsens that I have stayed at.

Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip.
Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip. I liked particularly the castle, which is just gorgeous now in winter. And I bet it is beautiful also in other seasons as well. On top of that I enjoyed other attractions too.

This is a great place, and all the sites are in a roughly 10 kilometer circle from the station. I put my suitcase in a locker at the station for the day, then rented a bicycle for ¥500 from a shop 800 meters from the station. (Turn right at the street in front of the station. The shop is on the left 800 meters down.)
I realized later that there is a tourist bus that stops at all the sites and has a running commentary on where you are. That would have been more practical for me. The bus costs ¥600 yen for a day pass, which can be bought at the bus station in front of the train station.

Aizu Wakamatsu is a nice place.
Aizu Wakamatsu is a nice place. It’s not very touristy but the tourist bus is a great way to get around and see all the main sights. One day wasn’t long enough. I think two days would be sufficient. There weren’t many restaurants open during lunchtime

Very short visit prior to a ski week.
Very short visit prior to a ski week. It is conveniently located and easily accessible via trains or buses. The city isn't too big and explorable on foot. Locals are very friendly and helpful. We had such a wonderful time at a local Izakaya even with our little Japanese. We were recommended a few dishes and they were all so delicious.

Loved Tsuruga Castle (Teahouse garden ticket does not include tea drink) and Sazaedo Temple (escalator ramp is worth it). Oyakuen Gardens is not worth the entrance fee during late fall and winter (herb garden is dead). A Ryokan and onsen experience is a must at Aizuwakamatsu (Shosuke no Yado Takinoyu was awesome). Also made our own Akabeko (red cow) at Akabeko Maker Bandokoro. All in all, a wonderful 1 night trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo traffic. P.S. Try a full size order of Sauce Katsudon at Medetaiya (I dare you).

Aizu is a town filled with rich history as a prominent Japanese political figure once lived here. Those who like ancient Japanese history should check out the castle, the graves of the brave warriors, to learn about what took place in this town during the Warring State period of ancient Japan.
The room is quite spacious as compared to other regular hotel in the big city. Not a new hotel but the cleanliness is good. The breakfast was really nice.
There are several family restaurants and small supermarket near the hotel in a walking distance.
I rent a car, so there is no comment about public transport. A lot of parking lots are provided free of charge.
I have extra requested for two nearby room, the hotel can make it. You can easily contact the hotel staff via booking.com inbox.
Very nice and peaceful hotel. The staffs are helpful and are with great hospitality. The breakfast and dinner was very amazing. The onsen are very private. I rent a car. There are a lot of parking lots provided free of charges, but locate a bit towards the hill (not at the hotel lobby/front). You may need to temporary park a car at the hotel lobby to unload the luggage or let someone to check in first.
There are three different onsens to enjoy and two additional ones are available at the sister hotel located at 4 minute walk. Dinner was a great deal compared to the other ryokans where I paid much more. Breakfast buffet had a plenty of different selections.
Love everything in the hotel. The room and facilities are great. The traditional Japanese food (breakfast and dinner) was fabulous and good taste. Easy to access by car with comfortable parking and transfer service between hotel and parking lot.
A nice place to stay while you discover the Samurai City Aizu-Wakamatsu
The hotel is close to the Train Station and the Bus Station.
The staff are nice.
The room is tidy and clean.
The breakfast is quite good.
Loved this hotel, so clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff who were helpful and patient with my bad translation use (my bad). Fabulous onsen, beautiful Japanese style room. I wished I had more time to stay
The staff (from Hotel Shousuke no Yado Takinoyu who are also in charge of Yukkura Inn) are really helpful but only a few of them speak English.
Possibility of borrowing a bike for free;
wonderful onsens
room was very spacious and warm, food was exceptional and was served in a private room. the onsen was a little small but very clean and relaxing. would happily stay again next time im in aizuwakamatsu
3 minute walk from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station. Accessible to both JR and Aizu Lines. Highway bus stop at the back of the hotel.. In the central area, going to all the attractions is a breeze.
Breakfast is excellent. So many type and variety of food. nice display and service. Onsen on 10 floor is nice and less crowded ( specially in the morning) than other hotels.
The room and the hotel are very clean. Our room is very big and comfort. Staffs are very nice and helpful. Nice spa (inside and outside) but we prefer the outside.
