The property is beautiful, feels like staying in a garden. Nice views from the pool and the terrace. It is located in the hills above Sao Vicente, 5 min drive from a supermarket, 30 mins drive to funchal, Kid friendly, we were provided with a child chair and a bed. very helpful host, they did laundry for us as there was no washing machine on property. Also communicated fast and were ready to help with anything.

We stayed at Joana's place for the third time and we are always delighted. Joana willingly helped us solve a small problem with the car rental company, as always, she is very helpful. Joana's place is a pleasure to live in. We always like to come back.
Situated 23 km from Girao Cape, 32 km from Marina do Funchal and 33 km from Santana's traditional houses, São Vicente House offers accommodation located in São Vicente.

The house was ideal for us, 3 adults, as we could have one bedroom each. That way there was enough space in the bedrooms, with double occupancy it might have been a bit of a squeeze. For a family of 5 or 6 it would also be fine.
The house is spacious and has a very nice seasoned, lived-in, and somehow British touch, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, where the family of the landlady had lived in for many decades and really made it a very comfortable home. It is well equipped, with plenty of dishes, plates and glasses, etc. as you can only find in a house that was really lived in, and not just done up on a small budget for rental.
The house is airy and dry, which is not an easy accomplishment on this island, especially in autumn.
There is plenty of space in the kitchen, the dining area, the sitting room, and very importantly also on the various terraces all around the house. The house is situated in a nice garden with interesting plants and which is still nicely maintained.
The location is beautiful. Not easy to find on your own, so you should take the offer of the landlady to lead you there. Once found, access is easy, also the parking. It is very quiet all around, just a few animals in the early morning, no noise from neighbors or any traffic. Also, there is a nice view down onto the ocean, so you immediately get the feeling that this is a wonderful location for a holiday.
Ponta Delgada is not the hub of activity on the island, but it is not very touristy, so nice and calm. Access to most parts of the island are vey easy and quick from here. Therefore an ideal base for all kinds of tours.

Helena is very kind helpful and welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. The area is beautiful, the house is in the perfect location to explore the north part/north west, and spend time in the capital city.
House has huge en-suite rooms and a great size well-equipped kitchen, living room, and terrace with outdoor furniture.
We had dinner every day in Sao Vicente (5 min by car) Restaurante Calamar. Excellent food, and we were happy with everything we tried.
I am sure will go and stay here next time when we'll visit the island.

Sao Vicente is a great base for exploring the north of the island without really having a huge amount going for it per se (nothing negative). But Seixal is only a few km away and is my favourite village on the island! Sao Vicente does have a few ok restaurants by the sea but I had better meal experiences elsewhere during my trip. The local caves are closed for the next year or so.

The village is absolutely beautiful.
The village is absolutely beautiful. Ideal for walking around. The views are just stunning, especially if you walk on top of the hill where the small chapel is. It's just difficult to get there if you want to use public transport. Buses there are a nightmare. We were lucky enough that our previous host took us there from Funchal. Otherwise we would struggle as nobody whom we asked in Funchal knew where the bus stop was for bus going to Sao Vicente.

Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira,...
Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira, rather less well known than most of the south side of the island. It has an interesting old church, a garden of indigenous trees (for plant enthusiasts), volcanic caves and interpretation centre (for geology enthusiasts) and several good restaurants (for foodies!).
From Sao Vicente you can travel along the north coast; westwards to Seixal and Porto Moniz, eastwards to Boaventura, Sao Jorge or Santana. Drive inland to Encumeada, the starting point for several superb hikes, or drive up to the Paul da Serra moorlands.
The roads around here are in good condition and easy to drive, there's not much traffic and the local drivers are quite considerate.
I've visited this area at various times of the year, for hiking and plant spotting, and there's always something new.
Food and drink? No problems! There is everything from simple roadside bars where you can share your coffee break with the locals to top quality restaurants serving authentic Madeiran dishes.

We saw very little of Sao Vicente on our short trip, since we were mainly occupied either seeing the sights in Funchal or else visiting along the coast to the East and West, rather than actually digging deeper locally. No time for a meal out, even though the hotel dining room was no good in the evenings. We've done a lot of caves before, so did not want to committ to that. So all we did was drive through it about six times without stopping to visit! Next time maybe, as it looks a good, if small, place to see more of.
Beautiful accommodation, newly renovated, beautiful garden with pool, fantastic location overlooking the green hills of Sao Vicente and the ocean. Everything perfectly clean, room comfortable. There is a shared kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator and a seating area, so it's nice if you want to prepare a snack for a trip. Different varieties of wine are grown in the garden, which can be tasted for free. Parking place in the shade of grape trees. Staff very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this accommodation.
It's in a beautiful and remote location in the mountainous Laurissilva forest, close enough to Sao Vicente by car. I cannot stress enough how necessary it is to have a car if you book this place, unless you want to do nothing but relax on the property. It was really nice to not have a ton of other people around! The sunsets were great and their private waterfall is a must see. Equipment was adequate to cook our meals, but it would have been nice to have an outdoor grill like many other places on Madeira.
The location is amazing, right by the ocean, you can hear the sound of the waves 24/7, even from your room. If you're a surfer, this place is a 5 min walk from one of the friendlier surf breaks in the island, and only 1min away from a surf center where you can rent gear. The scenery around the place is absolutely breathtaking, and the village of Sao Vicente has a supermarket and food places if you need. This place is a gem, I would 100% recommend coming here, I will be definitely coming back
The little house is perfect for a stay in Sao Vicente. Is has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We highly appreciated that it had a washing machine. We were greeted with a bottle of Madeira wine and home made cookies, very thoughtful. Janine who administrates the property, is a wonderful person, very attentive and communicative. She gave us lots of info on where to eat, drink, trekking spots and so much more.
I spent 9 days in Casa Oliveria Esmeraldo in January. The house, it's garden, the view and everything was just perfect. Duarte and Nuno are super nice, very helpful and always available. The whole north region is just like a fairytale. Sao Vicente and the house with the surrounding are perfect if you want to get out of everyday life and find your peace. It was very
hard to leave.
The location and the view were great. You have everything you need to make your food or coffee, if you want. Even though is right near the ocean, the windows were very soundproof. Also, there Sao Vicente is very close for supermarket/pharmacy and is a perfect spot for reaching the hiking trails. And there is a public free parking across the street.
Wonderful hospitality; peaceful and spacious house in the country side with great views.
A note for anyone using the public bus service to get off at Sao Vicente town stop at the top of the hill (near Urgência de São Vicente) or else you may end up at the stop near the coast which is a bit of walk back up.
Really beautiful house a bit outside of the city of Sao Vicente. Great location for doing hikes in the area and super quiet area to stay in. There were nice common areas - it was more like a house than a hotel so we had use of the kitchen, patio, and living room. Really beautiful area and a friendly host!
A Casa Estrelícia-Dourada Garcês was a beautiful place to stay! We had a fantastic few days exploring the north of the Island. Sao Vicente is a lovely small town with so much to offer. Thanks to Elda & Leonel for their warm hospitality, excellent local tips, and the wonderful Madeiran wine - a must try!
I can’t imagine a more perfect place in São Vicente. For the price of a hotel room you can be on a comfortable apartment in the center of the village. There are restaurants and a market in easy walking distance. Filipe is a wonderful and helpful host. Great views from my balcony.
Location was perfect, communication with the house owner was pleasant, nice surrounding (supermarket, nature and gas station), view to the village. Nice fully equipped kitchen (permanently available) and the hall with the fire place.
The guest house is located in the beautiful village of Sao Vincente. The view from the balcony was spectacular, birds singing from the early morning, staff extremely helpful, accommodating and warm. Highly recommended.
It's a nice hotel with a solid breakfast, and the location is excellent. There's some parking if you have a rental. The pool and hot tub are great for relaxing after a day of hiking. The staff is very friendly.
Nice little place. I couldn't decide if it was a small hotel or a big BnB but it worked. The view was very nice. We could see all the stars at night from our balcony. Breakfast was pretty good.
Family run hotel where everything is perfect. Very kind owner, perfect breakfast, scenic views from rooms, swimming pool, beautiful nature all around and very convenient location.
Wonderful hotel, we loved our stay (2N). Nice room with thoughful details. Wonderful views from the terrace and delicious breakfast (best in whole of Madeira). Thank you!
The hotel is very cozy, with a clean room and access to the yard from the room. Welcome drink and sweets pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this hotel
