San Angelo, TX was just one stop on a 3-week road trip.
San Angelo, TX was just one stop on a 3-week road trip. We stayed 2 nights and didn't know what to expect about the town. We loved wandering around along the shady Concho River Walk and learning a bit of the history of the area. We spent the afternoon browsing in the Old Town Shops. It would make a great weekend getaway!

We only had Sunday for a visit so most of downtown was closed. Loved being so walkable to downtown and the dedicated riverwalk paths. When church got out The Twisted Burger got crowded so get there when they open at 11am. We walked a bit to Old Central Firehouse Pizzaria and were not disappointed. Nice outdoor dining, beer/cider/drink wall where you get to pour (and pay) for only what you want, so sampling is an option. We had the spicy pickle pizza and a limited time special with spicy bacon jam, cherry peppers and hot honey drizzle, on cauliflower crust, and both were great! No evidence of homeless in this area.

It's a nice town. My family are from there.
It's a nice town. My family are from there. I would even live there But I wouldn't call it a tourist destination. There is nothing there you really HAVE to see. I guess a visit to Old Fort Concho would be in order but don't go out of your way for it.

There's more to SA than meets the eye driving through.
There's more to SA than meets the eye driving through. I stayed at the wonderful Pearl of the Concho Best Western which has an amazing indoor pool, gaming area and playscape that would make a nice weekend vacay for a family. Sadly though, in walking the downtown, there's a huge need for revitalization as many of the building are abandoned and showing signs of decline.

Nice Town, should say City actually. Had small town feel.
Nice Town, should say City actually. Had small town feel.
Enjoyed their River Walk Park, Lots of Good Food places.
like any small cities long main drag full of your go to Business.
San Angelo, is not easy to get to if your driving,
You get lead off Main Highway, to Route 277 for an isolated drive for 85 mile to San Angelo.
The place was very dirty did not have soap or shampoo ask for it. It was advertised as having a microwave but was not in room. They tried to charge more then what booking listed and did not know how to adjust the price. The shower was so dirty we bought our own show curtain. Was there for 4 day no one came to take trash or clean towel no house keeping. The walls look as someone walked on them very dirty. It appears this place is a long stay hotel. Overall I would not stay there again pour service and fasility not as advertised.
Room was clean, and comfortable. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. The TV in our room wasn't working, so we were promptly upgraded at no additional cost. Breakfast was nice.
Air conditioning in the lobby and breakfast area was broken, which is the only reason for not giving an excellent rating. They were doing their absolute best to make it comfortable though, by bringing in standalone cooling units. All in all, a nice place to stay while in San Angelo.
The breakfast was excellent. The hotel and rooms were very clean! I loved the lighting in the room! The brightest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It had ceiling lights and a large mirror across the whole back wall that really opened up and brightened the room. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location was nice, just right off the highway loop and near all the other hotels and restaurants.
A very functional hotel, if nothing special to write home about. Rooms were quite big, and everything worked as it should. Location is neither overtly touristy nor right on the main roads, but it offers a nice mixture of both. Restaurants in the area are very good (I can definitely recommend the Taco place across the street: fast and affordable). Good value for money.
I've stayed at several hotels in San Angelo and this was by far my favorite! The suite was so comfortable and this sitting area was great for hanging out with my Airman and his buddy! The breakfast was definitely delicious and one of the best breakfasts I've experienced in a while! The staff were helpful, friendly and very kind! Give them all a raise!!
Cleanliness and the employees especially evenings have given me the best customer service service in years! Great as always! I’ve stayed multiple times at la Quinta and have never Received any of my Wyndham Rewards for those stays and twice there was no breakfast and the evening employee is extremely rude. It’s exact opposite of days inn.
Just this old style of really entertaining your kids. Wasn't on a family trip but you could tell every kid that was there was taking advantage of the old school entertainment center of the hotel. The breakfast staff were excellent, clean and keeping breakfast supplied.
I loved how the hotel had a 2 bedroom suite with the pullout couch! We could stay comfortably with our 3 younger children and not feel cramped. I wish every hotel had suites like this! It was also VERY CLEAN! We will definitely stay here again!
Hotel is very clean, staff was friendly and the hot breakfast was good. I recommend this hotel if your staying in the San Angelo area because it’s located by a lot of restaurants and stores such as Walmart, Sam's, Target etc.
Everything was disgusting. The rooms were filthy, unsanitary. Your towels were brown and grey. The rooms smelled like smoke, there were roaches in the rooms and the outside of the building looked like a trap house….
could not eat in the restaurant for breakfast. I didn't like that. If you stay in the Motel you had to get it to go. not what I consider a good deal.
I did like the size of the room and it was comfortable.
