Location is very good, near shops, a co-op and McDonalds if budgeting, a jazz club, museums, and the tram station and tourist centre right outside. Quiet at night. Staff friendly.

The room was very good: the air-conditioning worked really well and was super quiet, the bathroom was really clean and really modern, the bed was really comfy and, despite being on a main road, the room was really quiet and there was no street noise (although I did stay on the fifth floor so that might have helped). The breakfast was decent (though the bread rolls were baked for too long), but it did the job. Overall, I was very pleased. The staff was also very friendly: while I had some issues with the WiFi, they were patient and helpful until it was sorted (cannot say that about every other hotel in Basel, and I have tried a few).

My room was on the 3rd floor, overlooking the street. Soundproofing was excellent. It was very quiet and I heard no noise whatsoever from neighbouring rooms or from the very popular bar located about 25m down the street,
The room was large, with a table and chair and an easy chair. The bed was comfortable, but my personal preference would have been for 2 pillows, not one. The shower was very good and hot water almost instantaneous. There were power points on both sides of the bed,
The buffet breakfast was good, with bread, croissant, a variety of cheeses and meat slices, yoghurt, dried fruit, cereals and coffee and tea supplied on demand.
The location was perfect, with a promenade along the River Rhine at the rear of the hotel, a tram stop to the Banhoh SBB, 40m away, and just a walk over the bridge to the city centre 200m away.
I recommend the hotel without any hesitation.

The location is in a nice area of Basel very close to the Rhein , with nice little Cafes and restaurant. ( A bit tricky to find) Only 10 min walk away to the city centre. The room itself was not very big, but high quality interiors, very comfortable bed, the bathroom was very spacious. The weather was extremely hot for beginning of September. We struggled a bit with the nights as we only had very warm down feather duvets without AC. Couldn’t open the windows because of the outdoor noise of the bar on the ground floor and the main hotel on the opposite side of the narrow road. It was a shame that we only spotted the coffee and tea facilities outside the room on the corridor when we departed.

At the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is an eclectic mix of historic and modern, tranquil and vibrant. With Swiss cleanliness and efficiency thrown in for good measure.
Augusta Raurica on its outskirts houses a well-preserved Roman theatre, while the Old Town is a museum of medieval buildings. The Renaissance Town Hall looks down on Marktplatz’s daily market, while the red sandstone and colourful tiles of the Münster were reconstructed in the 19th century. Bringing it right up to date are the modern creations of city residents Herzog & De Meuron, designers of London’s Tate Modern.
When you’ve finished exploring this architectural heritage, there are still plenty of things to do in Basel. The city’s fine art museum is the world’s oldest art collection, and the zoo is the oldest and largest in Switzerland. Remember to bring plenty of Swiss francs for the shopping mile along Clarastrasse and Freiestrasse.
The Basel accommodation on Booking.com ranges from hotels in Grossbasel to B&Bs in Kleinbasel, home to the nightlife. If you’re flying into Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport in February or March you might just catch Fasnacht: Switzerland’s biggest carnival. You’ll have to get up early to see it start though - 4am!

If you have seen all the sites in Basel and have a day free, Colmar, a small but beautiful city in Alsace, France, is a 50 minute train ride away.

Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated!
Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated! I usually go to Luzern and Zurich while traveling by train; making them brief stops of two or three days. This time I stopped in Basel and I was delighted with this wonderful city! I can’t wait to return and plan on staying a few more days to take it all in! Wonderful for shopping and dining and easy to get to on the train. Also convenient for visiting surrounding areas, making an ideal home base for longer visits in Switzerland.

We absolutely loved the zoo!
We absolutely loved the zoo! Quite small but the layout was deceptive so that it seemed much larger. The animals appeared well cared for and the enclosures were spacious with attention to enriching the environment for them, while at the same time allowing the visitors to get very close to them. In a very expensive country the entrance fee was very reasonable and half price with the Basel card.
The university botanical garden was also a little gem with a collection of unusual plants beautifully displayed and free to visit.
Basel itself an attractive city with a good feel about it. Don’t miss the quirky fountains near the theatre in the centre of town. Everything is very expensive for a British visitor which applies to Switzerland in general.

Perfect for a city break and good connection even to travel to other cities nationally and internationally as Basel is sandwhiched between France and Germany so, up to you where your heart will lead you for a day trip towards those countries.
Peaceful and efficient. Trasport good, people chilled.
Be ready to bring some money if you need to stay longer.

Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it.
Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it. The old town is so so nice. It's also very well connected to other places like Reigoldswil for the waterfall or to Augusta Raurica which I recommend.
Very sketchy, unsafe area - more unsafe than any areas I've seen in Switzerland. Even to enter the building at night, one is scared, and when you do not have the code at hand to enter the building, even more. The info on how to enter the building and room is super unclear. The display inside also got stuck, so it was really a hassle. People on the street shouting all night. Strange idea to do a self check-in hotel in such an unsafe place- you need staff then.
We spent two nights in this hotel during our trip to Switzerland, one at the beginning of our trip when we arrived in Basel, and another one before we left the country. When we came back for our second night of stay, Tamara at the reception and Leonardo at the buffet remembered us and knew us by name. The kindness and professionalism of the staff makes you feel like you are in a five star hotel.
the room was clean and cozy, I like the presentation of my room and how the electronical curtain was operated. Breakfast was amazingly tasted. The wifi was good and stable, and worth mentioning was, because the location of Basel is almost at the border of France and Switzerland, so I was contantly experiencing the problem with my cellphone internet, but luckily the hotel wifi solved my problem.
Across the board great hotel. Loved the room, modern, great size, great deep bathtub. Staff were so friendly. Location right outside the old town gate was perfect. Tram/Bus stops right outside the hotel. Free transportaion card was great - 5 minute tram ride to the main train station. I would stay hear again in a heartbeat. I cant think of one negative.
Incredible location, seamless check in and out. Everything we need was ready when we arrived. We all know that Switzerland is quite expensive country, we decided to make our own food and drinks at Nest and it work perfectly. We decreased our expenses quite a bit. I suggest the same for all budget travellers like us. Have a nice trip.
This hotel was fine for a night or two stay. It was clean and had a fridge. We borrowed a kettle from reception. It’s on a tram line so was easy access from the station but too far to walk with luggage. The area was fine and there were supermarkets a few blocks away. Value for money in expensive Switzerland!!
The staff were very helpful. The hotel was in a good location for walking around the old town. We traveled for the Military Tattoo and it was a good location to walk to the castle. The only downfall was the parking, it was very expensive and no discount for staying in the hotel.
It was quiet, comfortable & the staff was friendly. The trade off for the quiet was a bit more walking in a hilly city. Though once we found an easier path back to the hotel it was fine. It’s a rather quick walk down to the old town so overall we were happy staying here.
Staff was very kind and welcoming, offering us coffee or tea while we waited for our room (we were early). The breakfast was wonderful, one of the best we had during our 3 weeks in Switzerland. The room was spacious, and we very much enjoyed our stay.
Nice modern hotel, spacious room, great for a family with small kids. Convenient small kitchenette and nespresso machine. There was also a playroom on our floor.
Close to tram stop 14 which goes to city centre.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Fantastic staff in stunning spacious rooms with a gorgeous garden. I've never had a staff be so welcoming and generous, and the property is simply breathtakingly beautiful!
It was a very clean room, there was a playroom for kids, and the staff was very helpful.
There was a coupon from the hotel for the city transport for free, that was very nice and helpful.
The electric fireplace is really nice in the hall. The receptionist was kind. The hotel is located close to the city centre, yet in a quiet area. Free tea and coffee on the ground floor.
Friendly staff, cleanliness. Breakfast room. The only hotel in Switzerland that fulfilled my pre-arrival request for a firm pillow which was impressive.
Next to the station. Quiet, Clean, Comfortable beds, friendly staff, and the breakfast is probably the best value breakfast you can find in Switzerland.
