Overall an exceedingly picturesque town with many fascinating historic sights, whether one enters them for more info or not. It was very clean and I found the numerous fountains spouting fresh water (as well as free public toilets ) to be highly civilized.
Unfortunately most museums being closed for a religious holiday was a drag. Thank goodness the beautiful weather made just strolling around admiring historic architecture (& magnificent views from the bridges) plenty enjoyable.
Public transit seemed to be very efficient for visitors (we didn't venture much outside historic center).
We went to Bern specifically for Voodoo Rythm label & record shop and were NOT disappointed! Highly recommended for those about to rock!!

I liked the old town, with cobblestone streets.
I liked the old town, with cobblestone streets. I visited a lot of the typical tourist places like the clock and Bern’s Bears. I’d recommended taking a walk along the river and travelling to any high points to look over the town. The transport system is amazing and the hostel I stayed in gave me a transport code so I could use it freely.
I woke up early so got to see a lot of the town before others but by about 11am it was rammed everywhere and some tourists could be quite rude.

We did a wonderful walking tour with an excellent guide which gave us a great overview of the city. We highly recommend taking a walking tour.
We loved everything about the Old Town. It was raining some of the time we were there and the beautiful arcades kept us dry.
We were lucky to be there when they had the light show on the Parliament Building which was magical. Hotel Akomo Bern was a very short walk to the Parliament Building.
We had dinner in two excellent restaurants - one Italian and one Swiss.

Bern is such a lovely city, especially the older part.
Bern is such a lovely city, especially the older part. The older streets with the arcades are amazing to wander about. Free public transport is such a good idea and allows you to explore further, such as Gurten, which is a really nice area to go for a walk. The walk along the Aare River is also lovely and can be done at any time of the year. There is a brilliant mix of city life and nature. Plus the Swiss chocolate is always good.

Chirstmas ambiance at Bern was really great.
Chirstmas ambiance at Bern was really great. Christmas market (chalet with Fondue) was nice too.
Also, in summer time, don't forget to swim in the Aare river (strong current can hold/push you). Go to Marzili Platz to enjoy it.
Really funny (requires some swim skills of course, not for babies/beginners).
Fabulous hotel and great value for money...in Switzerland, anyway :)
The breakfast was plentiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was perfect for walking the city and the beautiful river Aare. The only 'negative' is that because the location is so great, it is quite noisy in the evenings and in the ealr mornings (7am) you can hear the efficient Swiss cleanup from the festivities the night before. This did not bother us and we slept super well, but thought worth noting. Thank you Kruez - we will be back!
Budget level for the area but clean and modern. Excellent device charging availability in the room. Not far from the Bern old town but with a bus stop right out front and a free transit pass provided through city hotel tax. Very close to the best view overlooking the city in the Rosengarten, where there is also a good restaurant. There was a charge for parking in the underground garage, typical for a city hotel, and it was very clean, well lighted, and convenient.
absolutely darling little hotel situated right in the river in the best location in all of Bern- quiet, quaint, steps from the old downtown, adjacent to an impressive rose garden- couldn’t ask for more. The hosts are kind and allowed for early bag drop-off and had them waiting in the room for us. we booked the family room but would take any room, even ones with shared bath would be fine.
Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast. Room is a bit small, but clean and practical.
Near to Tram and Bus stop, less than a minute walking distance from hotel. Bern City Pass provided is a bonus.
Additional info:
Bern Bahnhof -> Eigerplatz (hotel location)
Take Bus 10 (at Kante I) towards Schilern
or Take Tram 3 (at kante J) towards Weissenbuhl.
This place was near perfect. In the Old Town with many restaurants, shopping, historical sites, train station close…and such a well planned facility. If this considered a hostel let all our hotel stays be hostels! VERY comfortable bed, plenty of room & seats, nice shower, great staff (Anika) and the hidden gem is a roof top view of Bern! ❤️
Hotel was amazing. Perfect location and convenient location. This location is a must stay for families with waterpark access. The hotel is next to the train stations making it very easy to access Bern Central train station. Bern is a perfect launching point to see Switzerland given its central location.
This is a big property with spacious rooms (given the room size in most of the hotels in Switzerland). its a bit away from city center but just 10 minutes bus ride and stop right outside hotel, next to rose garden where you can enjoy the great city view. All in all its a great place and value for money.
All great here - I love this hotel. A 20 minute walk from the old town or just a 7 minute tram ride, a great peaceful place to base your stay in Bern. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made some great suggestions.
The location of the hotel is excellent and very convenient for public transport. The instructions for self check in were good.
The hotel arranged for Welcome Bern pass, which was very helpful and made easy to explore Bern.
The hotel was less than a 5 minute walk from the bus stop, which itself was only a 15 minute ride from the main Bern train and bus terminal. Good grocery store very close by was convenient. Studio room was nice and roomy
good value hotel for Switzerland. conveniently located just outside Bern on A1 motorway. Room was clean and comfortable. liked the ability to do laundry using hotel’s facilities - ideal for long road trip
the staff was very friendly and helpful.
the views from the room were nice.
the breakfast buffet is worth the price (specially in Switzerland).
the Asian restaurant inside the hotel was nice too.
The open/shared area at 1st floor.
Simple & modern design inside the room.
The simple check-in website (dependency is guest must have prior roaming data plan where Switzerland is expensive).
The staff was friendly and the location was good. The hotel is infront of the tram that takes you directly to downtown Bern or wherever you need to go.
