The Guggenheim of course, but the city is elegant, bright and bustling. The bridges alone are worth going there for. We ate at small cafes and pincho bars of which there are countless numbers. There is an underground metro and tram routes, but we walked. There is a pleasant walk along the river.

Bilbao is a beautiful city set on the river , lots to see and do when there and you definately need 3 days to cover it all , we went out to the bay of biscay on one of the days and it was worth it ,we travelled on the orange line to Niguri got off there walked the coast line and got back on metro at Areeta back to abando where out hotel is. My main tip is try to get a main meal in the middle of the day as we found it hard to eat at night apart from Tapas bars which really didnt suit a gluten intolerant person in the party .

Absolutely fabulous city.
Absolutely fabulous city. Spectacular food, people are so friendly and helpful and the city itself easy to get around (get the barik card) and with so much to see.
We ate in pintxo bars in Plaza Nueva numerous times. We also popped into cafes, had lunch in Las Cepas close to the Guggenheim (menu del día €15). I had dinner with a group in a Txoco (fabulous experience).
The metro was fabulous and runs all night on a Saturday. We also got a taxi to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (€60 between 4 of us). No tix required on Monday to access the site although the church was closed. There's a restaurant by the car park with great food and views. We then called a taxi to take us to Bermeo (there is a bus but every 2 hours). This cost another €20. Bermeo is a pretty fishing town. We got the train back to Bilbao using the barik card - in total it cost 4 of us about €5 to return on the train.
Highly recommend the funicular to Artxanda (great views) and generally explore the city. It can be chilly so be prepared to wrap up.
I wish I had discovered Bilbao years ago but so glad I have now. I'll definitely return.

A wonderful city to visit, which offers everything you’d ever desired to do, from cultural to sports activities, and the food is absolutely amazing. I would recommend “Cork” for a 360 degrees deep dive into the local food and wine or beer, worth at least one visit. Another place called “Mugi” had the best Secreto Iberico and Presa Iberica. The vibe is wonderful. Great ham and cheese selection in one of the old town’s shop, good prices. Beautiful shops all around the whole town. A wonderful holiday.

Bilbao is easy to get around.
Bilbao is easy to get around. We used the metro and the tram quite a lot. The Barik card makes public transport much cheaper and it’s really easy to use.
Lots of churches, bars, cafes and restaurants. The people are really friendly and I managed to get by with my very limited Spanish!
We loved Bilbao and I think 3 or 4 days would keep you busy. We liked the Guggenheim as it’s a bit different. The fine arts museum (free) is worth seeing as well. The highlight for us was the Vizcaya bridge which was amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it! Walk across the top and get the gondola back.
Plaza Nueva had lots of bars and restaurants with great food but it does get really busy. A great place to try the Pintxtos is the indoor market which lots of the locals also use.

A good base for day trips to San Sebastián/Donastia to the east (a city of beauty, elegance and tourist-friendly amenities), Santander and Santillana Del Mar to the west. Bilbao is a quite pleasant city as well especially the riverbank area.
What can I say, the moment we arrived Lydia took care of us, showing us a map of the city, where to park , how to travel in the city, what to go and see... you name it. The room was more like a small apartment with three separate room; Bedroom, Bathroom and sitting room. The hotel is slap bang in the middle of the old town (Casco Viejo), so the moment you walk out of the door, you have arrived! Tram, Bus and Metro are all in short walking distance from the hotel. Next time I visit Bilbao, and trust me I will! I know where I will be staying!
Excellent location in the middle of Bilbao old town - could not have been better! The hotel was very clean. It does not have a reception and the hotel requires you to complete a self check in (and submit your passport details) prior to checking in. There is a hotel around the corner that the hotel is linked to that has a 24hr reception and luggage storage. The room itself was clean and comfortable. There is a kitchenette with a fridge (but there is no stove so you can’t cook).
It was a perfect little hotel in the heart of the Old Town and it's location was super convenient for exploring the city. Our room was a lovely twin room and was really quiet despite overlooking a busy street. The manager who checked us in was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Bilbao.
The Gran Hotel Domine is one of my favourite hotels. The staff are amazing, helpful, proactive and always smiling. The location is across the street from the Guggenheim and we were greeted every morning and evening with beautiful views of this astounding monument. And of course Puppy! The food is good, the atmosphere is good, the location is fabulous. What a great place to stay!
It's a nice check-yourself-in hotel, with nicely decorated rooms (even if usually I'm not a big fan of themed hotel rooms), the facilities are appropriate, it's in a very good old-centre location and it's affordable.
Although the staff is only around at breakfast, the experience was nice, friendly and practical. I'd stay there again when in Bilbao.
You get a nice student apartment, well equipped and for two or three nights it’s a great accommodation in Bilbao. Metro station is 300 m away and the supermarket is nearby.
It’s no four-star hotel but if you want a four-star hotel, you have to pick one and pay it, the Micampus is great to meet other people if you want
Perfect location on the border of Casco viejo and Abando, walking distance of most of Bilbaos treasures.
Very comfortable and clean rooms, great amenities such as coffee machine in the room, fantastic towels, dead sea toilettries and more.
Staff very nice and helpful.
Just the hotel you would want to stay at
We had a large room on the eighth floor with a large balcony and great views of Bilbao. The room had everything one needed and the hotel was very well placed for walking to the old town and cathedral, to the indoor market, to walks along the river to the Guggenheim museum.
Very quirky small hotel. The staff were probably the nicest iv ever stayed at.....they couldnt do enough.....they even looked after a bag for one night while we went to our neices wedding until our return. Great position for the old town of Bilbao.
The location of this hotel for exploring central Bilbao and the old town is perfect. Superb value for money for ultra sleek, clean and modern rooms and decor. Small discount for car park near hotel provided - nice surprise on arrival.
The location of the hotel is excellent - 15 mins from the old center and 15 mins from the new and the Guggenheim museum.
The room was basic a bit old style and a bit small but overall it was clean and ok for some nights in Bilbao.
The room was well designed, clean and spacious. The location was really convenient to getting around the city and the staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Bilbao.
The Location was perfect, the room facilities were brilliant. Had a really comfortable stay. Would highly recommend the hotel. Didn't have the breakfast as there were too many hip places to try out in Bilbao.
The location is close to the old town. The Guggenheim Bilbao Museum is also within walking distance.
The hotel is a small one. The room is small, but comfortable, clean and quiet.
We stayed here as we have to go to Airport early. Hotel is about 9 kms from Bilbao Airport. The room is very convenient and clean. Bilbao town night spot able to see from Hotel.
It was in a great location for everything in Bilbao.the hotel it self is beautiful modern and the rooms are nice and big with very good ac and bathrooms
