Sweet town on a lake with a nice local shopping and restaurant district. Preservation on old homes and buildings is the highlight, as well as the chain of 7 lakes. We did a pontoon boat tour of Dora Canal, and saw lots of native birds, turtles and alligators. Several restaurants were closed in the early week when we were there, but there were still many good options available.
If tall, old oaks covered in moss and a walk through history are to your likings, then you will enjoy Mount Dora.

Mount Dora is one small, friendly town.
Mount Dora is one small, friendly town. The downtown area is full of shops, pubs, and restaurants. We went to the Mount Dora Historical Museum, and a few artist studios. The small town charm comes through with each and every townie. What a wonderful place to spend some time.

Mount Dora was a very quaint town where everyone seems very friendly. It has a great mix of pubs, restaurants, sidewalk cafes, and shops. There appears to be something for everyone. Being welcomed into an artist work area to watch her work was amazing.
Truly a gem from days gone past.

This is a beautiful place.
This is a beautiful place. With the best sunrises and sunsets on the Lake. Restaraunt and pool bar. Coffee in the morning. Walking distance to downtown shops and restaraunts. The only Con is the noise level from the adjacent rooms. This is a great town. And wow Florida does have hills. Go to Mount Dora.
Good location for us. We had a chance to visit the downtown of Mount Dora, though you have to drive to the downtown. It is walkable to a few shops and restaurants. The hotel room had a good view of the water. The room itself was okay, typical older hotel, but clean.Thick towels, always a good sign. The bed was comfortable.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fresh fruit at breakfast!
We only stayed one night, but we will not return, my family and I saw: cockroaches, super bad hygiene, it smelled horrible, under the bed there was a cover with bodily fluids! terrible!! I think it has bad management because the location is perfect, everything is close by, restaurants, shops, and the town of Mount Dora is beautiful, but the hotel could not be recommended 😞
Two lefts at traffic lights and you're headed for downtown Mount Dora in a couple of miles. Unless you stay at one of the facilities in town you cannot get any closer. Fast food, groceries and retail stores are a short drive to the north and in abundance in case you forgot to pack something at home. Breakfast was more than most simple continentals.
This is our 3rd Stay, a gem, our Paradise in Mount Dora, just a short distance from Downtown to ensure nice quiet evenings, very comfortable all you need in a Vacation Rental, Derek and all staff friendly nice people, who really want you to enjoy your stay.
This is now our place to go too, when we stay in Mount Dora 3/4 Times a year
The house is a traditional Mount Dora home and quite an experience. The apartment we had was furnished with beautiful pieces of the period. The old-style kitchen was impressive. There was even a screened porch overlooking the garden. Free parking was possible on the premises. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Everything. The house is incredible. Our room was a dream. We stayed in “ Heavenly “. Margie and Melissa were great hosts. I’m starting to choose these type of places instead of the big impersonal hotel chains, were people act and talk like robots. Heron Cay was a beautiful human experience.
The employees at the hotel were all very nice, friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was outstanding! I have traveled a lot for work & usually if you go to breakfast at 9:15 - you get what is left over. This hotel had freshly made, full options all morning - very much appreciated!!
My stay at this hotel was exceptional. The staff was excellent. My breakfast was included and the breakfast selections were wonderful. The location was very close to the downtown area. Free parking at the hotel as well as in downtown Mount Dora was adequate and plentiful.
What a pleasure it was to stay at this lovely property. But best of all was meeting Margie, the owner, and chatting with her about the bed and breakfast, it's history and the town. I love to experience well run businesses and this is way up there!
Lovely location! What a sweet little spot and an excellent value for the money. The check-in process could not have been easier, and we could walk everywhere in Mount Dora. We were sorry to leave! Hoping to be back with more friends.
Location on lake is wonderful. Mount Dora downtown is easy walk with shops restaurants art galleries. Inn is excellent example of old hotel. Beautiful bar, outside patio and dining room. Very clean and friendly staff
Not a true bed and breakfast (no breakfast.) Great location, few minutes from center of town. Place was spotless and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends and family.
A very clean place. The attention was great in every aspect. The included breakfast has a nice variety. Coffee and tee all the time available. The hotel is on a main road which makes the access very easy.
The location to downtown Mount Dora was great. we parked the car and walked everywhere. The cottage was spacious and a french theme . Nice kitchen if you want to cook. The bed was comfortable.
The location was excellent. The property is within walking distance to everything downtown Mount Dora and a short driving distance to anything else you may want to do.
