Located in Sarnen and within 21 km of Lucerne Station, Hotel Metzgern features a restaurant, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. This was the last leg of our week of Swiss Travel Pass train trips specifically to visit the Kloster Sarnen. After six days of crowded tourist destinations, Sarnen was a welcomed place to rest and recuperate. Hotel Metzgern was a genuine oasis. Close to the Train Station, extremely friendly staff, excellent restaurant and food and by far the nicest place we stayed on our journey. The bathroom and spa bath in the Panorama Suite has to be seen to be believed. LED lighting in the tiles made for such a romantic and relaxing atmosphere to wash away the travel aches and pains. As far as accommodation is concerned this was the highlight of our trip.

Located in the centre of Sachseln, 200 metres from Lake Sarnen and the train station, the family-run Gasthaus Engel features a Gault Millau-awarded restaurant serving Swiss and international cuisine. This was a wonderful place. I recommend it highly. Be sure to have dinner, it was wonderful.

Situated right in front of the Melchsee-Frutt Cable Car, Gasthaus Waldhaus is a traditional guesthouse that enjoys a central position in Melchtal. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with enough to make a couple of extra sandwiches for lunch.

Located on the southern shore of Lake Sarnen, the historic Landgasthof Zollhaus is a traditional family-run property for 160 years. Welcoming and kind stuff, good breakfast, good location if you travel by car.

This elegant hotel is located only a 15-minute drive from Lucerne and a 2-minute walk from the train station. It offers modern wellness facilities, free parking and a large terrace. On my request I was given homemade vegan spreads for breakfast. Vegan breakfast in a hotel 10/10

Overlooking Lake Sarnen, Seehotel Wilerbad is idyllically located between mountains and the lake, a 20-minute drive from Lucerne. The location was beautiful. It was nice to have a couple of days to relax in the spa since travelling Europe. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which allows wasy access to the train station. Staff were lovely and the food was great. Would highly recommend!

20 km south of Lucerne, with the Sarner lake and mountains right before the door, this hotel charmingly combines a historic building with modern styling and up-to-date facilities. Highly recommended, excellent address.

Frutt Living has a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Kerns. The room was perfect with a great view. Construction was happening on one floor but the staff still made sure the common areas were clean.
