Rooms are fun and quirky. The bed was big and comfortable. The shower was great, a bit unusual with just a glass panel separating the bathroom and bedroom, but you could make it non-see through. Breakfast is great!

The room was quiet, comfortable and had everything needed.
The room was quiet, comfortable and had everything needed. There were good facilities at the hotel - dining room, seating area, bar, good parking and was easily accessible. The reception staff were helpful and friendly.
The hotel is situated within easy reach of the M3 and also Basingstoke. And I feel it was reasonably priced

Small town that has a really good shopping centre with a wide choice of the normal and more unusual shops. There are plenty of places to eat, cinema complex, theatre and a good selection of places to park.

A great mixture of old and new: new shopping mall cleverly melded into "old town". Very well looked after and litter-free. Lots of indoor activities especially for children and young families.
Excellent range of properties for folk wanting to settle there (with good access to London).
Lots of road works but probably a passing phase.

We didn’t really explore locally, but rather used it as a base to explore the whole area. It’s just a touch over an hours drive to the south coast, to Bath and to London. We visited Estates with some of the best art collections outside of London, the National Auto Museum, Wisley Garden, rode bikes in the New Forest, played disc golf, visited the Safari Park and much more. There’s a good pub 10 minutes walk away and a huge grocery store about 10 minutes drive away. Perfect!

Basingstoke was a surprise for me...I hadn't expected it to be so full of art & culture. Every available space it seemed to me had been brought to life with a variety of paintings ; poetry ; lighting etc The streets were clean ...plenty of litter bins...hardly any graffiti...people seem to take a pride in their town, which was great to see. I rejoiced to see a market place being used and numerous independent shops as well as a vibrant shopping centre. There are also a number of well maintained green spaces - Eastrop and Glebe Gardens fir example.
I didn't have occasion to use the bus service but did use the railway station and went to Salisbury , Whitchurch and Romsey.
The Ring Rd is a bit of a challenge but at least the roundabouts are named , which is useful! There is easy access to the M3.
I went self catering but found a really nice coffee shop on the way to the station- I think it is called Willow Tea Room ...it is near the statue of the Bluecoat school boy!
It is multi cultural so you are spoilt for choice re eating out. The shopping centre is bright, clean and vibrant.

Very basic hotel that could do with updating.
Very basic hotel that could do with updating. Dirty coffee spoon in bedroom. Dinner only had once, poor quality so eat out in other restaurants, luckily plenty around within 5 mins walk. Internet very poor, could not use I Phones and on laptop very slow so hard to do work in eves.
Staff very nice & friendly
After having to leave The Hampshire Court hotel due to it's dangerous and filthy condition. I had to find a hotel at very short notice.
Audleys Wood had availability at a higher price than I had paid at the pig pen, but if I had known how beautiful this hotel was and how fantastic the staff where I would be more than happy to have booked there first.
My deepest thanks go to all the staff, from the night Porter to the hotel Manager that saved our weekend away.
- Flexibility of staff - we had to stay longer due to the storms and this was dealt with quickly and professionally
- Breakfast was average. Expected more given the overall quality of the hotel.
- Liked the spa - except for an incident where a visitors approach and behaviour towards me was clearly a case of unconscious bias or racism. Complaint made to staff was handled sympathetically but the issue was not really understood.
The room was really nice and seemed to have been recently decorated or refurbished.
It was good to have a microwave, toaster and fridge, as these are not provided in many budget hotels.
The welcome tray was very nice too, and there were plenty og coffee sachets for us. Having fresh milk was good too, as it is much nicer than the small cartons of long life milk provided in budget hotels.
Absolutely blissful stay though it's not in Basingstoke, it's in Dummer and connectivity through bus/public transport is not great so a good option only if one has a car. Martin & his wife were perfectly welcoming, sweet and helpful! Room was in a great condition and washroom was super clean. Lovely guest house situated in the countryside, and great views! 👍🏼
Really enjoyed my stay at the Basingstoke Holiday Inn. It's a lovely well maintained hotel, close enough to everything but tucked away enough so it was nice and quiet. The one problem we had, when the shower wouldn't work in our first room, was resolved very quickly. We were moved rooms swiftly and were able to enjoy our stay. I will definitely stay again.
I have stay at Wessex House a few times now.
It has always been, clean and quiet.
The bed is comfy as is the room.
There is even a selection of bits for a breakfast, to see on your way in the morning.
Wessex house is a short 10 minute walk to the centre of town for all its amenities.
I will be back when work brings me to central Basingstoke.
There is nothing not to love about this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms and hotel itself are lovely, the food was a high standard and we especially loved how welcoming the staff were to us and our dog - all exceptional. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a dog friendly hotel to stay here.
Lovely hotel in a peaceful setting although not far from Basingstoke centre. A little hard to find as the Satnav didn’t recognise the postcode. Clean comfortable room with a balcony a great stopover on our way to Devon. Would recommend
Location very easy to find with good access to trunk roads. Very comfortable apartment within walking distance of town centre. Compared to local premier inn, more comfy (by miles) and better value.
This has the making of a beautiful hotel, weddings, conference meetings, a nice bar and restaurant. Beautiful swimming pool maybe put a gym so guests can have a work out and value for money
Loved the hotel facilities, room and staff. The only reason I didn't overall score higher was the restaurant for breakfast. I assumed that you were short staffed both days?
Lovely clean room, perfect for our one night stay. Comfy bed and in walking distance from the town centre. Very friendly staff. Free parking was a huge bonus.
I like this chain of hotels, it's about a 15 minute walk from Basingstoke Station, the rooms are nicely styled, lovely bathroom and a massive comfy bed.
