The warm welcome with tea and cake available as we arrived. The log fire, and guest lounge to chill on a cold winter's eve. Our host was attentive, hospitable and full of amusing stories. She also recommended local hostelries for our eve meal.

Very friendly people who greeted me as I walked around and/or asked for help. We were there on the night of lanterns and watched it from the living room. A strong showing of community participation. I loved it.

A quaint ,typical Lake District town.
A quaint ,typical Lake District town. Windy streets with nooks and crannies and something to discover on every corner. An awesome selection of eateries and cafes. Some like "4 penny cafe" were quirky ,friendly and the food to die for. The scenery was beautiful. The town is clean and easy to navigate. It has a Thursday market. And of course ,the Laurel and Hardy museum.

Friendly locals, good shops, good pub (Rose and Crown) and great Laurel and Hardy museum.
However seagulls so loud at night it was difficult to sleep, and traffic on main through road extremely busy at all times.

Having lived in Ulverston for a few months in 2016, I know...
Having lived in Ulverston for a few months in 2016, I know the town and surroundings fairly well. If you want to spend time, as I do, in a scenic area with both fells/hills and sea nearby, this could be the place for you! The town is small enough, if you want to avoid the stress and hassle of a larger town or city. And yet there are enough descent places to enjoy a good meal and/or a drink. There is a theatre/concert hall with a good programme of events, and a cinema. And there is often folk music in one of the pubs. Places to visit include the birthplace of John Barrow (mariner and explorer), a museum celebrating Laurel and Hardy (Stan Laurel was a native of Ulverston), and Swarthmoor Hall which played a key role in the beginnings of Quakerism in the 17th century. There is a fine view of the town and the beautiful surroundings from the top of Hoad Hill - just a short climb from the edge of the town.
This is a real gem, lovely hotel, and for a solo female traveler looking for a cozy quiet hotel this is great. The single room was perfect, the separate bathroom was huge, and the team is really welcoming. The breakfast was great, freshly made and good way to start the day. Internet is up to speed, and I could have a work call without problems. All in all, I would definitely come back when I'm in Cumbria. Ulverston is a lovely town, with food and shops, easy access to train (I few to Manchester and took train up)
Gleaston is a beautiful, tranquil village setting for a relaxing short break. Mike and Vicky were helpful and welcoming and the cottage was cosy with all modern conveniences and amenities. It was a rare treat being able to take a bath after a long day of trekking in the Lake District. It was extremely quiet at night and the bed was super comfortable so we slept like babies. We were treated to a complementary guided tour of the neighbouring water mill.
The cottage was well presented and equipped with everything needed for a very pleasant stay. Lots of indoor games and books to read if raining and a garage 2 minutes walk away for snacks for hungry offspring.
Lovely walk into Ulverston and beautiful scenery.
The town itself has nice shops and lots of eateries. Would recommend the Rose & Crown for lunch and Poppies cafe & Bistro for a gorgeous breakfast
Ulverston is a lovely little town with plenty of pubs and restaurants. It's a good base to visit the rest of the lakes. The property is 2 mins walk from the town centre. Parking was available and free. The cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped and very quiet at night. If you're planning to eat out we can highly recommend the Rose and Crown, lovely food at a reasonable price.
This is a delightful property - beautifully presented throughout and really well equipped. The comprehensive information provided about the cottage made it easy to find and modify (for example) the heating. The cottage has the advantage of being within easy walking distance of the town centre, whilst still being quiet enough to sleep with a window open.
The location was wonderful as a complete getaway from busy life. I was attending the Buddhist festival in Ulverston, and needed to have cooking facilities for my diet. Being able to cook for myself in such a lovely quiet location was ideal. My husband was meant to be with me, but due to work commitments couldn't make it. I felt very safe on my own.
The cabin was amazing!! We stayed in the Pear Tree and loved it so much we stayed an extra night!! So clean and cosy with loads of information on how to use various facilities and nearby walks and places to eat! Fantastic location with Ulverston town centre just a 5 minute drive! Strongly recommended for both couples and families!
Location was excellent - 1 minute fromm the town centre and quiet.
Facilities were superb - very much a home-from-home and fully equipped. All the essentials were also in place (dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc) so I hope my contribution of laundry liquid (I had muddy cycling kit to deal with) added to the stoocks :)
The property and surroundings are perfect. Amazing value for money. It’s great how close to all the amenities you’re and Ulverston is a great night out. The beds are really comfy and Anastasia who runs the show is lovely and you can even book in for a massage at the spa which I did for my partner and she loved it.
It was conveniently located next to everything in Ulverston. It was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and resolved any queries immediately. We would happily stay again.
The staff were welcoming and helpful. The bedroom was cosy and bathroom was large. Breakfast options were varied and the cooked breakfast was tasty. Location was central, but not noisy. Perfect place to begin the Cumbria Way or visiting Ulverston for the weekend.
Ideal location for the family to access the town centre and not far from other attractions, just a short drive away. House was lovely, nice and clean and spacious for 4 of us and a dog who also had a great time 😊
Central Location in Ulverston, plenty of space for 3 people. Good base for walking in the Lakes, plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Would recommend.
We enjoyed everything about the Bay Horse Hotel. The staff, great and the hosts, fabulous, The place was an ideal retreat and the food exceptional we loved it.
Nice and clean house, down a side street so no town centre noise. Owner very helpful.
Awesome location right in town centre close to shops and restaurants.
