The location is right in the middle of the historical center. Couldn’t be better. The staff were great. Super friendly and accommodating. The “single” room was totally functional. A good use of space…and there was a balcony. Breakfast had something for everyone - a good selection.

FAQs about hotels in Alghero

Sardinia’s Catalan Gem

The walled town of Alghero on Sardinia’s west coast has an altogether more down-to-earth vibe than the more exclusive Emerald Coast on the opposite side of the island. In fact, it feels more Catalan than Italian.

The seafront walls and defensive towers surrounding the historic center were actually built by the Catalans in the 16th century, and many residents still speak a dialect from that era. However, Sardinia has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and the Nuraghe di Palmavera stone dwellings outside the town are evidence of this. Another nuraghic site is Anghelu Ruju, near Alghero Fertilia Airport.

South of the airport is sandy Maria Pia Beach which continues all the way to Alghero harbor and is lined with beachfront hotels, bars and restaurants offering tasty seafood, including local lobster. Boat trips leave the harbor to Neptune’s Grotto along the coast. Next door is Nereo Cave, supposedly the largest Mediterranean sea cave and a popular diving spot.

Also worth visiting are the pedestrian streets of the old town, packed with shops and sidewalk cafés. Also here are the 16th-century Palazzo d’Albis and the cathedral with its mixed architectural styles.

The Alghero accommodations on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with pools, cheap B&Bs and apartments with parking.

Visited with small children, 5 and 8 for 5 nights.

Visited with small children, 5 and 8 for 5 nights. It was great to be exploring the beaches, lovely narrow streets of the old historical city centre and lovely italian cuisine in general. Don't fully rely on public transport or boats to Grotta di Nettuno / Cappo Caccia - they may not work all days, or can just take you around the bay without the option of getting of. Would recommend to rent a car to venture to nearby areas on your own schedule and you may see more.

Well worth a visit, Beautiful old town with mazing little restaurants and coffee/gelato stops , Fabulous boat trips. Very friendly city and all the locals were most welcoming and friendly. Will certainly be back. Only negatives would be the taxis ( avoid if possible) I like to get a taxi to aiprport when Im leaving a city so that there are no hiccups / delays . However in the end I took the bus for €1.50. One taxi driver was looking for €40 and insisted I called him rather than the company he worked for. Avoid main restaurants in the old city. Most are over-priced and from what I could make out most are run by the same person. But its hard not to fall in love with this amazing city

Alghero is a lovely place to visit with its historical old town of a maze of pretty cobbled streets consisting of multiple restaurants, shops and wine bars. Lovely marina where you can take boat trips from. Lots of nice restaurants outside of the old town, would recommend Rafel restaurant and bar situated on the beach for that special dining experience.

Fabulous place which exceeded our expectations. Safe, plenty to do and lots of good places to eat. I would recommend hiring a car. We did from 'Casual Van'. It was great to see the surrounding coast. Really stunning scenery. Would recommend Regina Margherita and La Bottega for meals and Jo'pier. We got to and from the airport by taxi which we pre booked.

Fantastic modern, complete new and beautiful apartment. Only a 6 minute walk from city center. Everything you need and more is there. 2 balconies, with launching area + umbrella. 2 very well equiped bathrooms and bedrooms. And a very modern kitchen. Absolute fantastic and sweet owner who proactive informs you with video's about the key, private garage and how to find your way. This was the best apartment we had during our round-trip in Sardinia. We can recommend everybody to go here. (Especially the private carpark in the garage is a luxe)

We landed and came straight to the hotel so the location was great because we could throw our things into the room and head straight out onto the beach. The rooms are lovely - white with blue accents which is beautiful next to the red tile stones. The beach is literally on your front doorstep which I loved because you can dip between staying in your room, sunbathing on the beach or going in the sea whenever you like. Feels really nice and secluded with the private beach and sunbeds. Great place to start the holiday!

The place is less than 10 minutes from the airport so was perfect for our late arrival! They stayed up longer to accommodate the late time we checked in and asked if we needed anything else for food etc. - we felt very well welcomed to Sardinia! The room was new and very spacious with a beautiful shower and bathroom, and the huge bed was super comfortable for my husband and our little daughter. The extensive breakfast with local ingredients was the best we had on our entire trip - we would definitely stay here again!

This place is one of the most convenient options to stay in Alghero. The apartment is close to the city center. You can reach by short walk, a supermarket, restaurants, the beach, pretty everything that you need. Simonetta was so helpful that even after my stay, I forgot some items in the room, she was so kind that she went to the local postal office to mail my items back to me. I have never received that level of personalized attention from 5 star hotel. I totally recommend this place for many reasons.

The apartment is very cosy and intimate, like a home away from home, very clean and equiped with anything we needed, perfect for spending a great vacation, just in the lovely old town, a walking distance away from the sea, with many restaurants and ice cream places close. Our host, Manuela, was just lovely, available, we had great communication with her, she recommended some great restaurants and helped us with what we needed. Far away from crowded beaches closer to Alghero, so if you are looking for a quiet place to stay, this is a place for you. Staff very helpful, decent housekeeping. Lovely beach bar next door. 7 min by car from the airport. 45 min from la pelosa beach ( must be seen) 2hrs to costa smeralda - porta Istana, definitely would recommend to see. Beautiful beach. 20 min to Neptune's grotto.

I had a great time here, Alghero and surroudnings are very lovely. It was my first time in Sardinia, but I know that not last ☺️, the island is in some way magical hihi. Apartment was absolutely stunning 😍🤩 with soul, not another white, lifeless and cold place. Everything was really close to apartment: - old square - port, sea and beach - airport bus stop and ticket machine (on the same street, about 350m) - shops (Eurospin, COOP, CONAD,) - lots of restaurants and cafes

The hotel is a solid, clean, well designed place. It's a great base for Alghero with good people running it and working there. The breakfast experience was always good, and the staff were always helpful and friendly while working hard to be professional, aware and attentive, a good combination. Our fourth stop was in Alghero. This city is simply beautiful. We made a good decision to stay at this hotel with a great location and all the facilities. The staff was very nice. The parking lot is underground which is the best due to the heat outside. We got a stunning and quiet room. The breakfast is great, it is served in the highest floor with a beautiful view of the sea, harbour and city. Highly recommended.
