I attended a conference at the AICC and for convenience I ate my dinner at the Mount Meru Hotel. I enjoyed the safari to Tarangire Park and had a lovely goat and lamb BBQ at the local Kwa Mrombo (a street full of BBQ goat meat in Arusha).

Arusha is not a pleasant place, on the very dirty crowded streets there is non stop people grabbing and talking to you all wanting money, we had one person tell us about his mother in the hospital and wanted us to pay her bills. Arusha is a means to a safari and that is it.

Arusha is a busy city.
Arusha is a busy city.
I have visited old German Boma which was converted into Natural History Museum.
Seen also Arusha Declaration Monument and Clocktower which they claim it’s located in the middle of Africa or let say in the middle between Cairo and Cape Town.
They have some supermarkets like Shoppers Supermarket or AIM Mall on the way to Arusha Airport.
East African Community HQ and Heritage Museum.

A typical African city, colorful with open local markets and malls, safe to walk around and very friendly people. Ideal location to start your safari because most safari organisers start safaris from there. I’ll definitely visit Arusha again.

Great city to stay in.
Great city to stay in. Definitely the safari hub; at least four major safari destinations (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater) within a day's drive. Lots of great (if sometimes challenging) hiking to be done in the foothills of Mount Meru and the Kilimanjaro (or climb the mountains if you feel like it).
Easy access through Arusha (domestic) or Kilimanjaro (international) airports. Taxis are cheap, but make sure you agree on a price beforehand,

Good variety of shops and interesting cultural and heritage centre. Convenient place for starting point for safari. Views of mountains/hills at times. Climate not too hot. Maasai market interesting.
Loved this spot - away from the craziness of Arusha but also easy to access by dala dala (plus a short motorbike trip - they will be waiting to take you but be prepared it is a very very rough road!) For the price I was very pleased with my private room, the property has lots of space to explore, and it is easy to organize many activities. I enjoyed chatting with the other guests over 7pm dinner and afterward at the outdoor fire pit. Small shop to buy drinks / snacks opens at 4pm, free bananas any time, and water refill as well!
When I think about Bright Star Hotel, I think about home in Africa... Room is nice, bed is comfortable. Terrace is perfect place to relax, yard enables peace from busy city of Arusha. We had amazing food, and A LOT OF food. There's supermarket in nearby.
But the most important to mention are people. Veronica and other staff are very kind, helpful, always there to help. There's no problem for them. Me and my husband felt really comfortable and if we ever come back, we'll choose Bright Star Hotel.
Do yourself a favour, stop researching elsewhere and stay here. Stayed previously at 5 star Meru hotel, and sure it was flash, but the Blue elephant so much more relaxed atmosphere, homey & beautiful gardens/chill zones, you wouldn't pick that it's just off the busy main street. The amazing girls will look after you and keep you well fed. Such a gem! I'll be back!
This is the Safari Villa I stayed at while volunteering in Arusha, and it was perfect! Such a nice surprise to get to a place that not only offers activities for your stay, but also many areas to get acquainted with the rest of the guests. The meals were great and so was the staff. From beginning to end an extremely pleasant experience.
The location is a bit out of the center of Arusha but it's very nice to be outside the pollution and the noise. The hotel is cosy and the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. They work with another hotel Mambo Hideway which a small hidden romantic paradise to have a nice diner and cocktails.
Good location for arriving in Arusha, near the bus station and easy to organize a safari or any activities in this area. Upstairs bar area for socializing but it was empty when I was there. Included breakfast was decent.
Beautiful hotel, nestled slightly out of the centre of Arusha making for a peaceful, relaxing stay but within easy accessibility of the city. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Good wifi. Great facilities.
A relaxing oasis conveniently located near the airport. The hosts; Fransisca and Said made us feel like family, smiling staff ... truly great homestead feel. Not to miss if in Arusha....going back as soon as we can.
The house is well kept the compound the choma grill the kitchen the living room the bedrooms are awesome. We enjoyed the sunset from the balcony and the skies. Its a walking distance from Arusha town center
We chose this hotel for our stay for first and last night after safari. Glad we chose it as it was very clean and both breakfast and dinner were really good. Totally recommended if staying in Arusha.
The apartment is great. Loved staying there. I visited a lot of hotels and places in Arusha, because I stayed there for 3 months, and Kibo is very good value for the money.
Great city hotel in Arusha. A real oasis in midst of the hustle and bustle of an African city. Difficult to fault if it was based in any city in the world. We loved it!
A cost conscious hotel, very affordable, its in the city center.
My stay was simply awesome, very helpful staff, i would recommend for anyone visiting Arusha
