Only sad thing abt the whole experience was leaving the hotel🤗
Would highly recommend, the room was clean and good size. Food was excellent and great choices. Central to all amenities, staff were very helpful, breakfast was very good and the service was. I can not mark it down on any thing.
The food was excellent and the bed and bath exceptional. The staff was attentive and very helpful with our special needs as we had to stay most of our checkout day waiting for a rental car. The public areas were numerous, spacious and comfortable and all with a fantastic view of Appleby-In-Westmorland in the land below.
The staff were lovely. Vicky and Holly were particularly great. Vicky even went out to buy my mum special tea after her long shift. Breakfast was great. The pool was lovely…. Great that there was a kid free session. Loved the fact that people could bring there’re dogs along.
A wonderful place to stay. Jim, the host, was so kind. He arranged dinner for us when we were late arriving, he looked after our bikes, gave us a splendid breakfast. Amazingly huge trees in the garden. We loved it!
The food. A varied and truly excellent menu, every meal was a delight. The staff. Friendly, attentive, helpful and happy.

Lovely hotel staff very friendly and helpfull ..Thank you so much Laura and Amy...
This is a challenge to answer. The Scotch Arms is a lovely 1600s building(s) that was incredibly well restored. (My partner is an architect, and he said the owners spared no expense in the restoration.) It was a delight to be in such a beautiful treasure of a B&B. The question is difficult to answer because complimenting the wonderful physical establishment is, Dianne, the warm, friendly and knowledgeable owner/host. She gives everyone a warm welcome. On this trip we are staying at 7 hotels/B&Bs, and the Scotch Arms stays in our minds as one of the best on this 20 day trip.
Great location for a nearby wedding, really friendly staff and a homely, lovely room.
Excellent history Owner onsite with friendly attitude Must visit
Everyone was friendly and it’s in the perfect location to access Hadrian’s Wall. The bed is very comfortable, the hot water shower was wonderful after a blustery rainy walk, and I really liked the big towels! The room was a perfect size and I enjoyed looking out the window and watching the sheep graze as I woke. The food was very good and breakfast was plentiful and full of variety.
Check in was easy and we were given a complete tour and orientation of the property, surrounding businesses, and our rooms. Breakfast was great and we loved our pancakes!
